not sure whats goin on
Not sure whats goin on with my R. When I was driving today the car kept fluttering/cutting out then jumping rpms. I would go 5-10 mins fine then a min or two later it would studder and my tack would go crazy, new help asap !!??
distributor or distributor internal components are beginning to fail.
Early signs of failure are sporadic bouncing of the tachometer needle.
or
check your cluster. Ensure all connections are tight.

Its aftermarket if you bought it at Advance Auto. If you have access to a known working distributor from someone elses vehicle then that's how I would begin to isolate the problem. Good luck.
i had the same problem and thought it was the dizzy. couldnt figure it out so i took it to sportcar motion and they figured out it was the main engine ground wire was loose. but yeah, my needles were all over the place. paid $100 bucks for a tow just to find out it was something so simple.

That would have been my 1st guess... but since you just touched the dizzy, go after that too.
Good luck..

I bought a new aftermarket distributor some time ago, and it quickly developed a loose wire. It's easy to wiggle the wires at the dizzy while the car is running to see if you can induce a hiccup. You might give that a try.
The first time I took my car out it was fine for about 3hrs. then it began acting up soo I came home and took apart the dizzy to find that the screw that keeps the ignitor tight was out. After thinking I had fixed my problem I was able to drive around for another good 2hours. (trying to break in my new clutch as fast as possible) The next day I went for a second cruise and after a good 45mins it started to freak out again(studdering and tach going crazy). I checked my engine ground wire and it wasent bolted down to well. Im about to take another cruise now. So I am hoping that was the second answer to my problems. Any other thoughts on why the car will run fine for an hour or soo then freak out ??
aight, that took about 2mins. The second I went to get on it alittle bit the car started to freak out and cont. Same ****, tack freaking out and miss firing
Go around the engine bay, and tq everything to spec. Do you have aftermarket mounts? Do you tq things down on a regular basis? It just seems like the vibration from the motor is rattling things loose. Break out that tq wrench and make sure its all within spec.
