Moreso than that make sure you tell the dealer the final price you're willing to pay. They hate this but it's the only way to control what you actually pay for a car. So...
15170
+ 550
-------------
15720
x 1.0825 assuming Ca sales tax (your actual county may vary)
------------
17017
+ 200 approx Ca license fee (go to dmv.ca.gov to get your actual license fee)
-----------
$17,217 Final
Make sure you come up with a Final price to offer a dealer. Be prepared to walk away when they come up with bullshit like "oh we have good news for you sir - we can sell you the car for $19,000!" Tell em first not to waste your time. Better yet, just pick up the phone and call a dozen dealers. Be prepared to drive a little to get out to the dealer that will take your 17217.
Additionally, don't fall for the doc prep fees, license transfer fee, etc... You're not paying for the electricity or the air conditioning in the show room so why should you pay any of their overhead? That's their cost of doing business.
