How much would an OBD1 help my manifold?
I have the Skunk2 JDM ITR intake manifold, i heard rumor that it takes away from my low end, but adds to my top end. and that an obd1 ecu on my 2000 gsr would improve both high and low end. Any comments on this or opinions? is the obd1 worth the money? thanks
the "skunk2" (not jdm of any kind) intake manifold hurts your low end slightly because it doesn't have primary and secondary runners..... your not going to get your torque back by changing to an older computer. the advantage of the obd1 would be you could remove your rev limit (JET) and rev higher making more power.... assuming your cams and valvetrain are up to the task.

You need an ecu with a single runner program like an itr ecu which will plug right in to your car. Or you can run a chipped p28 using a obd2->obd1 jumper harness. Using a single runner programed ecu will help recover some botton end that you lost. You will also gain some more top end power cuz the ecu's timing and fuel maps are set for a single runner intake manifold, not to change when the airflow changes(like the secondaires opening).
