Default Hondata for Si

I have had my new Si for a couple month's now. I am looking at starting to do mods. I thought I would start with the ECU. Has anyone does this yet on theirs? If so, any complications? How do you get the best prices?

Not to be a dick, but please search first, then ask questions. This topic has been talked about ALOT.

Hondata only has a Reflash and IMG heatsheild available for the SI (at this time). I spent a lot of time talking with Hondata and several Honda Race mechanics regarding this mod.

Bottom line, the gain is about 20 to 25 WPH with a racing header and about 12 to 15 WPH with only CAI. Hondata recommends this mod with racing header because that is what works best with the reflash. However, you will still get gains without the header, but with other mods. This reflash is NOT recommended for a stock SI.

The reflash is $595, plus $70 for shipping, plus labor cost to remove and re-install your ECU (assuming you are not doing it yourself)

Personally, I am having the CAI, Catback and IMG installed first. Then I am having the car dyno'ed. Then I will decide if the reflash is worth the money and the risk. If I am only going to gain 5 to 8 wph additional, then forget it. I will wait for a proven supercharger to be released.

Remember, the reflash raises your Max RPM to 8,500 (from 8,000) and set's the Vtec to 4,500 (from 6,000). If something happens to your engine, and Honda determines it was because you rev'ed past 8,000 rpm or because of the revised Vtec setting, you can kiss any warranty coverage goodbye.

Thanks for the help and info. I can see it is not in my benefit to start with the ECU.

I think I will do the same with the CAI, catback and IMG before I do anything. I definitely do not want anything to happen with the warranty since I have only had the car for a couple months.

Which CAI are you looking at going with?

I would go with Injen. Just came out and have heard good things.

Well your warranty on motor is already gone with CAI catback and IMG as they affect the car. I have already dealt with the dealer over this and gave me a TSB ( technical Service Bulletin) that states that CAI or a low restrcition filter can have adverse effects to the car and thus will not be covered by warranty

It only negates your warrenty if it can be proven the product you added onto your car CAUSED the damage. If his transmission takes a dump they cant make his entire warrenty invalid just be cause he has a CAI.

Thanks for the help. I like to be well aware of what may happen and what options there are.

Thanks for the info. I think if something happened I would just put the stock parts back on prior to going to the dealer. As of now, nothing has been added yet.

I appreciate all the help.
