Default If you had 10k for an EF dream build what would you do?

I'm thinking I'll get a T4 turbo, and AIC controler, direct port nitrous injection and a Motec system exaust. That ain't a bad way to spend ten thousand dollars.

No! But seriously. When I head off to college, I want to take out a big loan to build my dream EF. I figure the bank will be willing to give me 10k so I'm setting that as the relative budget for the build.

Basicly, I'm thinking I wanna make SiR clone(non RHD though) full of JDM goodness. Running a fairly stock GSR powerplant. I don't really have it all planned out, but I've got a general idea. I'm looking to do something that will have plenty of power, but still be good for daily driving.

Any suggestions? What would you do with a 10K budget for your EF build?

10K will probably run out pretty quickly.

its stupid to take out a loan for a 15 year old car....and going to college...

there seems to be threads like this lately except teh other one from last week was in the GDD

5k will be spent just on the motor and things to put the motor in hell just the mounts are going to cost you close to 1k.

I didn't ask for your criticism, I asked what you would do to an EF with 10k.

I listed some of my ideas and wanted further ideas on what I could do.

Gosh!

ohhhh great idea...

spend all your cash on bumpers, sidemarkers and jdm road flares. then youll have a 16 second car with bumpers that, arent even that rare anymore.

i dont know what your ef looks like but leave it usdm. preferably 90-91 spec, buy a decent set of wheels and tires, omni coils and a polyurethane bushing kit. and a tubular front x member. then itll handle and youll have close to 8k left.

buy a gsr swap, a peakbook turbo kit, put it together, tune it conservatively (itll still make close to 300hp)

then if you have a few bucks left over get it re-sprayed in a non-trendy color, just make sure you get the dents pulled first. get a decent steering wheel, and seat/harness if interior is your thing.

then call it a day. youll have a solid handling, 12 sec ef, that wont get you layed, but will make you grin when you take it out.

if you get your parts in teh right places and look for deals, thatll run you about 10k not counting the cost of the car.

OR

sell your ef for 2k. thall leave you with 12k. go to the hondamarketplace and find a low miles clean 99-00 SI or 97+GSR in a relatively stock condition. then, yuoll have air conditioning, power everything, and an interior that dosnt look like a family of squirrels used to live in it. it will start every morning, wont be the fastest thing on the block, but it beats the kia that most college kids drive. your only headache will be your car payment that wil lforce you to survive off ramen noodles and blogna sandwiches for the better portion of each month.

a built H22 (probably slighty under stock CR) turbo swap and a nice paintjob

i'd be doing 3/4 of it myself to save money so would probably have enough left for a few body mods but i'd put it towards a good alarm for a car i put that much into

i just dropped about 2.5-3K into my EF with everything i've done and bought and will probably be very paranoid about leaveing it anywhere.. luckily i have a good alarm i got and havent used yet so it'll go in soon

people drop more then 10K into 15+ year old cars without even flinching, if its a car you love or one you will have for a long time, go for it

you'll never get your money back for EVERYTHING though so dont expect to

the dream car i want to build will be over 25K and its 30+ years old, once i find a good shell i'll be started on it

Oh yeah, and, I want to establish, I'm not one of those JDM fanboys who like JDM simply because its JDM I prefer JDM because of looks (such as an SiR front end), or the features american spec cars don't have, such as power windows.

I am not too much into most that crap either, but for EF's ED's there is just so much nicer stuff than US models. PW PD glasstop and a much nicer looking front end

what a way to spend your student loan. $10k isnt very much for a car build, especially for a 18 year old car which needs a lot of restoration.

I'm assuming that I'll already be in possesion of a clean, rust free rex at the time I take out the loan. So the 10K'll go towards parts, not restoration

But really guys, less flack, more suggestions.

I would import one, and leave it in my garage and be set. It would be my weekend driver.

Only problem is, with a kit car, A) It actually has to be a kit car, and B) limited miles

Haha! Yeah! expletive those laws anyways!

Naw, I think I can live without going RHD. I mean I did think about a possible RHD conversion but decided I'd rather wait till 2015 than spend money on a RHD conversion.

But once 2015 hits, import that ****!

I cant believe suspension isn't anywhere on your buy list. If all you want is power buy American .

I'd put a downpayment on a 350z or something.

Something a little bit more responsible with my money.

But that's just the pot calling the kettle black, I'll probably be investing quite a bit of money into mine over the next few years getting it the way i want it.

10k, like many others have said here, will NOT get you much, I've spent about 9k in parts to build up my engine, including t4 turbo and other stuff to put it all together, and still have a few more things missing. 10k is the tip of the iceberg

10 grand? Sell my EF and buy something better haha. Honestly. It's an EF. I'd get maybe if it was in mint condition and you had the money kicking around. But taking a loan to build an EF is stupid. I could of done it, instead I bought a car that had power everything, ac, seat warmer for my lazy ***, sun roof and ran 14.8 on some 17s. Cost me 8000$ haha.
