timing belt
how much does it usually cost to change a timing belt and water pump for my '95 civic. parts and installation.. a shop around here is gonna charge me around $425 is that a good deal or what?

Point is, buy teh timing belt and water pump urself, they're easy enough to do by yourself, one day TOPS if you've never done it before and don't have car knowledge and u'll save urself an assload

Too much, That sounds like a dealer price to me. Thats like 300$+ Labor. Just call around local shops and see what they can do for you. Maybe they can get it cheaper.

DIY! It's easy with the right tools. I had to swap out my cylinder head, and over the course of the whole process I fully removed and installed the t-belt at least 4 times.
It's a crime that mechanics with air tools charge 400+. I can do it without air in under an hour.
Parts
- tbelt kit + h20 pump = gotta be under 100
- labor...should take them less than 1/2 hour
= it should cost 150 max...bastards
