Well the outside looks fine, but the inside is what matters. And in pic 3, it looks like the flange is warped.

also, the top of the collector looks to close for comfort in my opinion. it will be difficult to get inbetween each runner...any issues with sealing these types of collectors?

We just started backpurging with these collectors and there is no porosity inside like before so that makes me feel better. The flange does get extremely hot but if you look closely you can see that all four corners all bolted to a very thick piece of channel plate that keeps it from warping while it cools. And if for some reason it does warp we mill it flat before it goes on a customer car. Kordenbrock, to answer your ?, we dont have any problems welding those areas. I weld as high as I can on the collector, then once the runners are welded on i just go up in between the runners and seal it up.
Ryan
I will post the final pics of these manifolds when they are done. I'm making 3 top mounts so i should have pics of 1 of them by the end of the week

Do do you actually weld in between the pipes going around the pipes, or up and down ? I think I know what you mean, would like to see pics of that though.

Well, I finally got my chance to use solar flux and what can i say, wow! They really weren't bs'ing. The penetration was very clean and smooth, the puddle was much easier to control, and overall look of the weld was much better. It also looked like the weld/material didn't get as hot....
The pics arent the greatest but you can clearly see the shiny residue left behind is your hint that the flux did the job

And no, the flange is not warped, thats the camera playing games....
