Default Roll bar shipping cost or locally made?

Interested to see what people have paid for shipping on a roll bar. I'm in the market for an Autopower 4 pt. but it seems crazy to ship tubing across the country. Anyone have an idea what a local fabricator would charge for something similar? Any experiences to share?

Got a guy here in Eastern NC that I think can do a cage for NASA or SCCA comp for around $600-$800. I will know more this week.

I believe I paid $75 to have my Kirk's Racing bar shipped to So Cal.

Paid about $75 to ship my Autopower 4pt. I bought it from Safedrives.com. I had it shipped to my mechanic which was a business address and saved some $. I fits pretty good, but I had to trim the corners of my door panels to get the door to close.

Why are you getting a roll bar? Obviously for safety, but for your own personal desire or to meet a rule requirement? I'm sure someone local could weld something for you, but many nice bars and cages can be expensive to make custom, and the cheap jobs usually look like it and won't pass tech.

I went w/ Autopower because I needed a bar for Time Trials and I didn't want to spend the big $ for a custom job, or try and save $ and end up w/ crap. It meets the spec and is good quality. I don't have to worry about being allowed to drive because my roll bar looks like an erector set project gone bad, and I've got $ left over for the fire ext. transponder, seats and other equip I need to compete.

I paid $130 total in shipping charges for three Kirk rollbars. Each rollbar weighs ~60 lbs. It was slightly cheaper to have them shipped as a set vs. individually (IIRC it was about a $100 for just one). Ask around with any local clubs you drive/race with and see if anyone else is looking to buy a rollbar. That way you can split the shipping fees.

Kirk Racing is on your side of the country (AL) so I'm sure you can get a more competitive shipping rate than I did.

I paid about 100 for shipping for my autopower 6 point for my crx. I still have it and am thinking of selling because I want a custom one made now. I never had mine installed so let me know if you are interested.

Thanks for the info, guys. I'm planning for time trial events that require a roll bar. I'm a little concerned about getting a local shop to fab something. The Autopower bars seem to fit very well from the factory, so they are more of a "known" qty.

I drove to Kirk to pick mine up. He is 10 minutes from my house.

I wouldn't think shipping would be too expensive to NC, and the quality is excellent
