Default 2006 civic coupe air conditioning

Hey Guys and gals,

I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing any problems with their 06 civic air conditioning not being very cold in extremely hot weather. Seems to be like anything above 25 degrees celcius. I have tried all settings max ac and regular ac. My old car had a colder a/c. I have only had the car since the end of april, 8600kms on it. Thanks

Yes, I know what u mean I don't think the ac is very cold at all. In very hot weather which is wen I really use the AC, even on max it feels only like cool air blowing kinda like a fan. Even my mom's camry has colder air than my car and its a 98,

If you are used to bigger engines, you will notice that the 4cyls dont pump out the chill as fast... get them rolling and the AC cools right down... at least mine does. Who needs AC for around town cruising... I live in texas, frequent over 100F in the summer, and i like it windows down, roof back, stereo up... in town.

Complain about what, the laws of physics? If your car isn't moving fast, the airflow over the a/c condensor will not be enough to sufficiently cool the refrigerant in the system. Furthermore, newer vehicles have a/c systems that are designed to use less refrigerant than the old systems (thank you, EPA), so they simply can't work as well as on older cars.

Before you go bitching at the dealership over something that you think is wrong with the car, get yourself a stick thermometer, put in in the dash vent, and measure the vent temperature when you're on the freeway. Then, ask your dealer what the acceptable temperature range for your vehicle is.

Well thanks but this issue occurs also when I am on the highway. It doesnt matter if its idling or on hi speeds. Seems to make no difference. Plus the crv had a smaller engine than the civic and it is cold ice cold all the time no matter if car is moving or not.

Blame it on crappy 134a. The car wont cool fully unless you are moving. I want R12.

Same problem with my SI. if the temperature goes above 90, the ac starts to blow hot air. I need to take it back to dealer. I'm just freaking lazy. I guess the weather isn't that hot enough for me to take it back to the dealer!!!

dude what a joke...bad ac...come on...its a small car...it will get there eventually...you need to open your windows if it has been in the sun all day and let the air move in the car....and keep the ac on the whole time...then put the windows up for the ac to catch up...I would think that you may need some window tinting and a windshield cover in order to prevent the greenhouse effect.

I dont work at a honda dealer, I have window tinting and it makes no difference. Besides we have had civics before and the ac worked fine. I am takin it back to the dealer so they can see what they can do. I paid good money for that car and I want good air its something I use a lot as I am in the car for long periods at a time going to work.

We just got a vehicle for R&D and it was the LX Coupe 5spd, and I noticed the same exact thing, the ac isnt very cool, and i was thinking it before I even saw the post...i have a 97 civic coupe as well, and that a/c was sometimes a little too cold. who knows...

Actually my 06 Si blows cold air where I have to turn it down a notch or two and it has been really hot and humid here in Indy. Suppose to get to the upper ninety's by this weekend so lets see what happens.

Oh ok I never noticed that smell but I will be checking for that. I took it back to the dealer and they tested it and said it was fine - within the factory specs. Of course it wasnt doing the issue when I took it in and infact has been working fine since.

hey did you guys have any luck with this. My a/c stopped blowing cool air. I was traveling down to New Orleans for a meeting, and my a/c just stopped working all together. It's not just b/c it's hot outside. It was working the first half of the trip great....it was sunny outside and I had it on the lowest setting and it was keeping my car cool (so working 100% right)!! I think I'm probably like 1 in a million who might have got a bad A/C part (something has failed...I checked the fuse and it's still good). But honda's are freakin reliable!!! Question is...did anyone find out why their a/c was not working?? Possible recall??

Yeah well I took the car to the dealer they tested it and said all was ok. Since then I have never had the problem but all they said that it was fine never did anything to it.
