engine swap
hey whats up i am new to the honda world and i just got a 2001 civic lx d series and it is slow and at first i wanted a b series but then i read some of the forums and people said that it was better for me to get a k series... and if i follow through with the k series i need to know what engine to get and all of the required parts for it because i was gonna rebuild it and drop it in so i need to know what to get and where to get it for a great price...and feedback would be greatly appreciated

Don't mean to sound harsh, but before anyone else jumps down your throat, i'd advise you use the search function to look through the forum. This, or a number of variations on this question, have been asked by newcomers on at least a dozen occaisions in the last few weeks.
I'm not being a ****, but the answers to all your questions are all here, in this very forum if you look around.
Just look back a few pages mate.

I'm just going to copy/paste what I posted in one of the other thread's made about this topic.
Just to let you know, there's been 2 recorded existances of B-series engines put into 7th generation Civics. One was a landspeed car, and the other was a show-only car. Just to give you an idea of what kind of problems you're looking at when swapping an older generation engine into the 7th gen.:
1. You'll need a custom ECU, or other sort of engine management system requiring tons of hours on the dyno to tune properly. *unless you're planning on swapping in custom gauges and pretty much gutting the interior of amenities.
2. You'll need custom axles, because nobody makes them for this swap.
3. You'll need custom engine mounts, capable of handling whatever power range you're into, because nobody makes them.
4. You'll never pass emissions in California, unless you got a guy on the inside who'll give you a statement of approval.
5. You'll never pass as an ordinary car, and that will cause registration issues in pretty much every state.
6. The transmission and shifterbox are completely different, so cutting up the body panels will be necessary.
7. You'll never see the amount of hp a K-series can produce.
8. K24's are about the same price as B20's.
9. Your resale value will go to 0, because not many people want an unregisterable vehicle.
