Default EGR Valve? - ECU Code 80: Exhaust Gas Recirculation

Question: Does my Integra have a EGR valve? I have a '97 LS.

My check engine light came on a week or two ago and I took my car to my mechanics house to see what code it was throwing. We got number #80, so we looked it up.

It says its the "Exhaust Gas Recirculation." What the hell does that mean? - He said he never seen that code before.

What do I need to do? Is that bad?

1994-2001 Integra's do not have an EGR valve. So, I'm not sure why you'd be throwing that code.

1990-1993 Integra's, however, do.

Perhaps we read it wrong?

The light blink 8 times. It wasn't quick. It was a normal 1 sec blink.

maybe...if there were 8 long flashes, then that would definitely indicate 80. No shorter quick flashes?

Interesting...well, if after double-checking that you did pull the code correctly, it might be worth a call to the Honda service garage and tell them you got that code and ask them about it. Of course they may give you a run around and want you to bring it in, but you never know.

Yeah, they were long flashes.

I took it to my mechanics house so he could do the thing to check the code because I didn't know how. After we figured out how many times it flashed, we researched it and found out the code.

He said he's never seen that code before. I searched everywhere. I found code 81, but no 80. He's supposed to find out when he goes back to work on Monday at Honda, so I dunno.

I just wanted to research it because I've been told Integra's and Civic's don't have ERG valves. Only Accord's and Prelude's. I did a search and found this underneath exhaust gas recirculation, "insufficient flow detected".

To tell the truth I'm not understand what this is so I'm just trying to find out.

I think 81-84 is cylinder misfires, right?

Any who, I'm searching to see if I can dig up something on this EGR code mystery..
