Default 06 Accord

The local dealer has a few 06 Accord V6 Manual transmissions left. I wanted silver but they only come with a black interior which I can't stand so I had to settle for white if I want a light interior. Well I test drove a white one today and it wasn't bad. My problem is it is a Manager Demo model. The other ones they have were all colors I couldn't stand. They said they'd give it to me for invoice. I was unhappy with that as I wanted $500 below invoice and I want a lot mroe than that off if it's a demo with 5k miles.

Would you guys buy a Managers demo? It seemed to be in good shape the shift **** had lots of deep scratches and the drivers side door panel had a few scuffs like just rubb marks from a shoe or something but not bad at all.

How much do you guys think I should pay for this?

Are there any known problems with these cars or are the 06's pretty reliable? Anything I should check with the car? I'm going to go to another dealer and see if I can find a non demo one but still if I can't is this demo a good buy?

i think the brake pad issue was resolved in 05. maybe ask for $1 off of every mile already on the car?

They offered $.10 off every mile lol. $1 off per mile is more what I'm thinking too. Would $500 under invoice be a good deal for something like this or since it is used even though they insist new should I be able to get it cheaper than that?

Whats the brake pad issue? Honestly I don't know anythink about the 7th Generation cars so I don't know of any issues they have had.

Do you still have to take the fender off to change the headlight bulbs in these?
I want HID's and since they don't come with them from the factory I almost decided not to get the car but I'm thinking I can add some It just sounds like a major pain if you have to remove the fenders.

changing the bulbs is easy, and if you want HIDs you could get them retrofitted

It doesn't sound like this dealership is working with you. If they wanted to sell you the car they would come down on the price. Paying invoice for a vehicle with 5,000 miles on it, No way. Find another dealership, Get what you want. I would have no problem paying a few hundred above invoice for what I wanted.

Yeah I'm going to look somewhere else next weekend and see which place will give me the best price. Or I might pay slightly more if I can get one like I want without the 5000 miles as I really don't like the idea of having a car with that many miles on it when I'm paying right around invoice. I'd like to pay $500 under invoice or invoice at most without any miles on it.

I'm also thinking I may go back to look at the Maxima again. I don't like the look of the outside but it has HID headlights already on it and also has more power and torque. Plus the interior is much better imo not to mention the BOSE stereo is one of the best I've ever heard that has come stock in a vehicle. I looked at it a month or so ago and came close to buying it over the Accord but then decided to hold off a while. It's now time so I'd like to get one in a week or so. I'd of liked to get one yesterday but not the way the dealer was working with me. I also want to check prices other places.

you should make sure nissan is using the newer, more stringent SAE rating system for the maxima. The paper difference in power may be artificially high.

Well I went to another dealer and bought a non demo. They have to order it from another place though. They said it should take a few days but can't do it until next week anyway. They said they don't know if they were demo's or not yet they can't tell to next week but if they are demo's they will either find another one or refund my deposit. I don't think all the dealers would use the exact same color vehicle for a demo and they also said the same thing. This dealer had only one V6 6speed and it was red which I didn't like plus it was a 2 door which I also didn't like. I'm really hoping I like this car. I can't wait to get it.

I almost bought the Maxima instead as I really wanted the HID's and I like the Bose stereo a lot better as I'm a audiophile. I really decided though I don't like the inside or outside especially as much as the Honda so decided I'd rather have it. Plus it was cheaper.

Yes I will post pictures for sure. I can't wait. I feel like a little kid on Christmas. I know it may not be that great of a car to some of the people here I don't know but I'm pretty excited. I'm not crazy about the white it is but then again I wanted a light color and a light interior and white isn't bad at all. Black shows too many scratches. I swore I'd never buy another Honda but something drew me back to it. I'm thinking a Mustang just isn't practical at all and I would get tired of it very very quick vs. the Honda I can haul around people and it still is decently quick.

My 99 accord is black and I hate it. If I had it garaged all year it would be ok. I will never buy another black car. Black is the sex when its clean.

Changing the bulbs in a 2006 6-6 is not easy!!

The 6-6 has a cold air intake that is in the way for some bulbs, and the fender liner is removed for other bulbs.

It's hilarious, really.

This is a good time to buy an Accord. The Civics are selling like hot cakes and they have eclipsed the previously very well selling Accords.

In consequence of this, Honda is giving dealers very big incentives, allowing people to buy Accords at deep discounts.

Another friend bought an Accord just a couple of days ago. It was a four door V6 automatic with Nav. She was able to negotiate away the entire holdback.

I remember with earlier model Accords reading you had to. Or can you just get it through the hood? Even if you have to take the CAI out. I don't like taking body panels off. They never seem to line back up correctly for me.

You do not have to remove the fender.

However, on the driver's side, you will have to remove both the CAI and the fender liner. The 6-6 cars have an intake that goes into the fender well just like the old ITR's did, and it interferes with things you would want to do on that side.

I don't mean to leave you w/the impression that it's impossible.

It is, however, a little more trouble that it's worth, at least to this particular old man.

Ok thanks for the help. I really would like to add a set of HID's and may eventually but I'm also worried that it will void the warrenty so I may hold off on them for a while.

Also has anyone tried changing the stereo on this? It looks to be built into the dash. Does someone make a kit to fit a new one in or am I stuck with the stock H/U? Being a audiophile I don't like it but I think I could live with it as it looked like it would be nearly impossible to change unless I mounted it somewhere else.

Maybe I wont be getting this as I called today to find out what was happening. They said the other two in the state or their area or whatever are also demo's and have more than 5k miles. They said they have one more option but couldn't tell us what it was. I need a car now and don't have time to keep waiting so I'm thinking of calling them back and saying I want my money back as they said they would give it back if they couldn't find a non demo. I needed a car this weekend but clearly that isn't going to happen now. I wish they had called when they found out the other two were demos instead of me waiting and calling. If I'd known then I might be able to locate something else.

BTW whats a fair price to ask to get a demo for? It seems like good shape but 5k miles and some black scuffs on the door panels but other than that in good shape? I don't really want a demo but it seems like I'm going to have to get one unless I get another color and the only others with a tan interior are either butt ugly or will show every scratch.

I would never buy a dealership demo, because they are either driven by the managers, of they use them as loaner cars! At my dealership my managers demo car gets used as a parts car pretty much if we dont have the part in stock on a similar car, and for loaners customers dont care about them and trash them. As for the headlight thing you can change the bulbs through the fender liner like you change turn signal bulbs on most cars , just turn the wheel pop out the clips and peel the liner back you will then see the bulbs!

Well I called a list of dealers within a few hours and found one. The dealer I bought it from also did though and said they would get me one still as they finally found it but according to them had to trade a "high end" car for it lol. I'm happy buying it from them but if they couldn't get it I was just going to drive a few hours up to the other dealer. It didn't matter to me which one got my money as long as they got me the car so I was willing to go to whichever could get the the car fastest.

Well I got this thing and holy crap do I love it. The stereo isn't the best but the rest of the car is awesome. I love it. Pretty darn fast too especially for a Honda. It will easily spin the tires going into second with the traction control on. It will do it with it off through second after letting the clutch fully out and just nailing the gas. I have been trying not to do it but discovered what it would do when trying to pull out onto the highway at 30mph when it started spinning when I shifted.

The interior is kick *** along with the exterior. The power matched with this transmission are an awesome mix.

I promised pics and don't have many but here are a few of them. I will take some more later. Not that you guys care but here they are.

Nice car! Glad you got what you wanted. If you are buying a car it sucks to have to deal with something less like the demo. So what did you pay for it?

Yup. Once you get used to it this 6speed is fun as hell. It took some getting used to though. I normally don't have a problem driving manual transmissions or never really have before but with this one It was always a rough ride. I'm starting to get it down though. At the first dealer I looked at it the sales guy had problems getting it out of the lot lol. It is differn't from any other manual I've driven a lot harder until you get used to it but it's fun as hell.

Something about being able to spin the tires through 2nd with the traction control on that is just fun too. IF only it was rwd doing that. jk FWD is fun too. I don't want to do that though as I'm afraid it will tear something up but I did do it twice and not on purpose either. Well def not the first time the second I wasn't really trying to but knew it would do it. This thing is a lot more fun that I thought it would be. I just gotta learn to drive it slowly. I've gotten on the gas a few times but mostly haven't as I don't want to break anything on it.

The clutch bites pretty hard.
