cross-check vacuum test results
so just for kicks I did (my first) vacuum test on my F23A1. Here are the results (and some questions). Would like to see if this looks alright and what others have got ? Here's how I did it -
There are three vacuum points on the top of the intake manifold right after the map sensor. I used the first one. Used a "T" connector to connect the vacuum tester.
At Idle: 21 inHg and steady
Upto 3k rpm: no real change, still ~21 inHg and steady
Above 3k rpm: starts dropping..upto ~18 inHg @ 4k rpm
WOT: 0 (needle pings sharply to 0)
Throttle Release: jumps sharply to 27 inHg and settles back to 21 inHg at idle.
How's all this looking ?
The only thing I noticed was when at idle if the engine comes under any load like a/c is switched on or headlights the vacuum reading drops a bit. For example, when I switched on the a/c it dropped to 18 (from 21) and stayed there. Is that normal ?
