Default Tire deal (advice)

A tire of mine blew up, which is not a bad thing because I was going to get a full new set anyway. I am getting a pretty good deal on some "Pilot Asalto" from Michelin, and I'm almost sure I'm going for that; but I'd like to get some input on this, before I make my decision.
Here's the thing, I need tires with good grip, and good grip on water too (it rains a lot, and hard); so I need good soft ruber, but at the same time roads aren't in the best conditions so I need tires with a good lifetime warranty; that's why I thought of the Michelin Pilot.
Any advice on this is welcome

What is the deal you're getting on the "pilot asalto" tire? In my experience all Michelins are overpriced and not worth it. Go with Kumho Ecsta 712s or Yokohama A520s. I just got the A520s yesterday and although I haven't had much experience with them, I love them already.

The deal I'm getting is the set of four tires for under $400. Usually they cost about $200 each. Do you know if both the Kuhmo and the Yokohama are good on rainy conditions ?

The Kumho 712s are great in the rain. I have them on my R and when it rains here it really comes down. The Kumhos have gotten me home safe in some prett incredible downpours...

The Yokohama A520 is acceptable in the rain...

If you want good grip rain or shine, look at the BFgoodrich KDW's also... min 16" tire size though....

Roads might be a problem though...the A520 wear rating is 180 and it is a fairly soft tire - you can feel it squish a little when you push it with your fingers. Not sure on the KDW's...

You talking about the Michelin Pilot Exalto? Tire Rack has them on special. Looks like they might be closing out that model.
