tire rubbing with a 98 civic, 18's help
sell them ***** and get smaller wheels. 15s or 16s should do the trick. 15 inch wheels with 50 series tires, or 16inch wheels with 45 series tires.
WHat size tires did you get? What is the offset of your rims?
But like others have stated. 18s are just asking for trouble on a civic. The best tire size you can get for 18s on a 98 civic is 215/35-18. Even those are too big though, they are 1.95%bigger than stock which is doable but the problem is that they are 30mm wider than stock.
Cheers.

Im gunna bite my tongue and keep my opion to myself on this one and just tell you get smaller rims. Im guessing that since u got 18's they are not racing rims in which case they probably weigh a ton. The problem with heavy rims is they suck power, and slow you down in the long run, specially on a civic. If you want to run 18's, get a bigger car. If you want to DUB out a civic, drive it off a cliff.
well its obvious that hes not doing it for performance not everybody that drives a eco box is out to run it ..some like to chill in the slow lane and criuse <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Sandmaggot »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote"> If you want to DUB out a civic, drive it off a cliff.</TD></TR></TABLE>
so thats keeping your opions to yourself?

By running it off a cliff I meant that it would be useless because you run into problems like this. By keeping my opinion to myself I meant I wouldnt tell him to go kill himself for putting 18's on a civic. Atleast I offered a little advice instead of just straight flaming him.
As for the orginal post... Seriously, grab a bat and roll the fenders. I have also seen custom fiberglass fenders flared 2" for sale on the net for fitting wide tires, i.e. slicks, on the front.

Im kinda new to this stuff and thanks to all for the responses, but what do you actually do to roll the fenders. Also would i be able to get new shocks and struts and have the height adjusted(still have factory on), i saw a "tricked out" episode on DIY.com and the guy put new shocks and struts on a civic, i believe, and adjust the height. Im not lookin to race or anything, just ridin for jesus and lettin the 4 12" audiobahns in the trunk spread the new culture of christianity.

Don't listen to them. 18's aren't to big for your car. Your tires are probably too big and your offset is probably too low.
What size are your tires? Running an 18 on a Civic, you'll want the smallest tire that you can find. 215/35/18?

are your tires butterflied???? if so, they should work fine, but you are going to end up paying for more tires in the long run. i just saw a 99 civic hb slammed with 18's and it looks badass, but his tires were butterflied. the only thing he couldn't do was make a full u-turn, but he said the tires hardly rubbed side fenders

Dawg you aint heered? I bez butteflyin mah tyres up and it's mad fly so I gets all teh hunnies.
I don't know what the hell butterflied is either.
You can put 18s on a Civic, but you need to have the correct offset on your rims and the lowest sidewall you can find.

Thats why you're rubbing. 235s on a correctly sized rim (15) is going to rub. You have a tire that's way too wide, and way too tall.
I've seen 215/45/16s rub on a tire with a fatter sidewall.
