Is it possible that there is a slight run out on one or both of the front rotors? If it was a very small run out/wobble then it may only be felt right before the pads are about to lock the rotors...

what pads were you running before? were you able to "bed" the new GT sports in?

pull the ABS fuse then go romp on it with ABS deactivated and see if you still get the same feeling?

be careful of course.
