4th Gen Radio Install
Ive done a search of this topic but couldnt find anything. Im curious to know how difficult it would be to replace my stock radio put in a pioneer head unit. I bought the adapter kit but i dont really have much experience with radios, though my roomate does and has offered to help me. Would it be better to take it to a shop and have it installed or is it not that much of a hassle to save a few $ and do it myself.
It's extermely easy..
Take off the shifter console.. A few screws you can see without having to look.. And at the top I think are two..
Remove the Stock Radio..
You'll have to connect the Stock Radio Harness Adapter to the After Marker Harness (Better to put these together before you start.) Then you can just plug it into the Stock Harness when you go to install and then plug into the Aftermarket radio. It's best to either Solder the connections and make sure you cover them, or crimp then, which will probably be best unless you know how to solder and have a heap srink wrap tubing stuff.
Connect the Antenna Cable..
Then install the Radio. Very easy...
If you got a Single Din Radio you'll need something to block off the other hole.. You can get a dash kit or custom make a little piece to cover it.
It's not worth, or it was worth it to me, to take it some where else and pay them to do something that I could do in the same amount of time and I know *I* did it correctly.. Good luck though..
***If I missed anything, please add to this.. It's been awhile since I installed mine..
