Default LS/V Questions

I want to do an LS/VTEC Swap into my car, but i have a few questions.

I have read most of the posts on the LS/V swap, and I found them extremely useful, but I want to mod the motor when I am done with it. I am going to explain what I want, and and I need advice on how to proceed with the build, or rather I should just swap another motor.

I want an LS/VTEC, running a turbo boosted that I can boost to 15-20 psi, a motor that can handle about 550 hp, and I want to also run a 100 shot nitrous setup. I would like the motor to make about 400 off the bottle and on pump gas, 500 on the bottle and if more is possible, more on race gas.

My other issue is the transmission. I've heard LS transmissions are good, and if I build them to handle the hp and torque, i'd be fine. But I dont know if there is a better transmission out there to use, like the GSR or Type R manual transmissions.

As far as budget, I have around 15k max to spend on the motor/trans setup. I am not that good at building motors, but I have 3 friends who work at a shop and build motors.

Any help that can be given is greatly appreciated. Thanks

I am going to try to take a stab at this:

You want:
LS/Vtec
Boosted @ 15-20psi
Block and head must handle 600hp
and a better Tranny

You have:
An Integra I beleive?
Year, Make, Model is unknown
Miles on motor are unknown
Type of driver you are unknown

This all matter bacause:
If you have an older Integra you have to start with replacing ALL of the Hoses, Mounts, Check all of the Suspension Ball Joints, Decide iy you are going Hydro or Cable Tranny, And there is more I am sure. Miles on motor matters because you have to tear it completely down if you are going to try to make that kind of power. The type of driver you are matters because if you are the type of driver that loves a red light then this setup will probably be too much for you to handle (Too many problems). But if you are a driver that knows how to pick your battles then go for it. You are talking about a pretty large build. If you are serious about this build then you should talk to a Reputable Machine/Tuner shop to guide you through your way. You'll get alot of useful help on H-T but you have a goal that needs to be thought out a little better. 15,000 it's easily possible with the right kind of Car, Shop, and Driver. I hope this has helped you. Just remember, This is my opinion. It's up to you what you decide to do.

dude do more research on motor building. Forced induction forum would be your best bet. Is the car going to be daily driven or just a weekend warrior? Figure out exactly what you want and come back asking questions about a set-up you have planned. This way we can give you feedback!!!

you need forged internals and sleeves for sure if you are running 15-20 psi safely

ARP head studs, and valveteain/cams will help

you will definetly need a good strong clutch

are you looking to make this a straight drag car? because it would not be good or even easy to daily drive it, more like a chore than a pleasure

The car that i am putting the motor in is my 1994 integra ls, 5 speed. the motor that is in the car right now has 235k miles, and doesnt run.

A friend of mine is going to sell me a stock ls motor out of his 2001 ls. that motor has 35k miles on it, and he was rear ended so his insurance company totaled it out, so he is parting it. he is willing to give me the motor and trans for $600.00.

As far as the type of driver I am, I know how to pick my battles, and anymore, most of the time I race, I do it at a local track. Also, the car is going to be a weekend driver, I have another car that I drive everyday. I do want to also have some show quality though, and am planning to have it ready for NOPI Nationals next year.

a 500+whp car is not very fun car to drive it town

it will bog harder than **** when not is boost because of the large size of the turbo needed to produce 500+whp and when it hits boost it will be too fast to safely drive on public streets

if you want it to be a weekend car get it tuned for a loser boost setting around 300-350whp and it will not put as much wear and tear on the motor, but it will still bog pretty hard with the big turbo
