Can valve tick cause knock sensor/ecu to go crazy.. plz help
So I have a swapped b16 crx with a slight valve tick but its had it for probaly a month b.c its not really THAT bad but suddenly on my way to work today my car begins to act very weird. I also have a surging idle so im driving on the highway and all of a sudden I take my foot off the gas and my cel flickers on/off and the idle goes to 1500 and jumps from 1500 to 1550 (makes a pretty quick vrum vrum sound at idle obviously) so It kinda messed with me so I get off the highway and the car is running veryyyy rough and lurchy so then I get back out of work 9 hours later and the car ran perfect all the way home (30 miles).
So I come home and am there for about 4 hours then leave and go to rip on it and it and it jumps, jitters and goes crazy so after this I am driving really slow and easy and take my foot off the gas while going about 55 and the tach needle drops/jumps and the car just dies on the middle of the ******* highway and this happened twice.
sorry about the long post I try to be as descriptive as possible.
thanks
Joey
Edit...I also only run sunocco 94

did you get a chance to check your codes?? if not, sounds like you might have a bad connection at the dizzy, if you tach needle is goin nuts
I am also throwing num. 1 cylinder post. code but ive had that ever since ive had the car running with the swap and its ran fine but Yes I am gonna check my connections.

Sounds like you may have 2-3 problems...
For the valve ticking,
If you have set the valve clearance properly,
Then most likely your "lost motion assemblies" are bad..
See: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=726701
Usually distributor codes are a sign of the distributor going out..
The bearing begins to come apart and the metal sticks the sensors
inside the distributor because they are magnetic..
This distorts the signal to the ecu which triggers the code.
