Default dpfi -> mpfi question

I'm redoing my dpfi to mpfi in my 90 CRX DX because it wasnt running right. I'm at the point where you wire up the injector 2 and 4 to the ecu pinouts. And I was wondering, when I do that can I just cut the 2 wires that are in there now and solder these on to those or do I have to tap into those wires and let them be as they are?

You can either reuse the injector wiring from the old two injectors and just add two wires, or just destroy the old wiring and add four wires. I chose to add 4 to keep me from getting too confused.

I'm asking about the 2 that you run to the ecu do you just tap into the wires at the ecu, or depin and solder the new wire on the old pin in that spot?

Yes you can cut the wires. Just make sure to tape off the ones that aren't being used, they could short to ground and cause weird things to happen.

So the reason that my car is running so rich, bad could be because that wasnt done the first time, and the wires that it was just tapped into were causing a grounding problem?

i would think if the ecu side of the injector was grounded the injector would be open %100 duty cycle. not good

Thats exactly what was happening. It was running so rich, that I was only getting 6mpg. The back of the car was covered with black unburned fuel, and it was backfiring like the fourth of July. I have been trying to figure out what was wrong and finally I just figured I would redo the wiring.

Good plan, shrink wrap, electrical tape, and loom are your best friend in this situation. Something form this converstion reminds me of playing spy hunter on NES when I was a kid.

Well everything is hooked back up, I shrink wrapped all the loose ends and tied them off. It looks nice and neat now, and hopefully it will work. Everything is hooked up exactly like it says. I reallly hope that this works I have taken it apart a few times just to see if it looked good. It is now 2am and I am tired of working on my car so I'm going to bed and I'll try to start it in the morning.

i have an 88 dx hatch with the same problem. its running real rich, my 02 sensors wont even read. i got to the point where i took my whole harness out and followed every wire. do you have any schematics or diagrams on converting duel point to multi for the b16. also every location on the ecu that needs to be altered to run a b16 from a 99 si.

just run a new wire from each of your injectors, 1 to pin a1
2 to pin a3
3 to pin a5
4 to pin a7

Im not sure from obd0 to obd1 but i do know that you have to change wires the ecu for obd0

You would run a wire from the blue/green wire on the dizzy to pin c1, then run a second wire from the dizzy from the blue/yellow and run it to pin c2

Then the old wires that you cut to use pin c1 and c2; c1 (orange) c2 (white) take the orange wire and pin it to b10, and the white wire to b12

then connect all the red wires from the injectors to each of the red wires on your resistor box then cut the old injector plugs off and connect the yellow wires together and run them to the yellow wire on the resistor box
