Default Help with brakes...

Yesterday i put new rotors and brake pads on my car, and they work good, only problem is i have to push the brake pedal in a lot farther. I have to push it down to the floor to get it to stop. I bleeded all four tires of air...and it is still doing it...any recommendations on how to make the pedal more stiff, so that you don't have to push the pedal in so far to stop? (i drive a 1995 honda civic lx)

You have power brake assist.

Bleed the brakes again with the car running.

Make sure the rotors you put on were the right thickness.

Bleeding the brake with the engine on or off has no efect.

Did you bleed them in sequence?

Did you do any work to the rear brakes?

Are you sure they are the right thickness if so how?

Did you have any symptoms of the pedal going to the floor like at the red light?

You have drums in the back correct ?

i'm pretty sure, i picked em up at a local auto parts store, they looked up the size for my car on the computer and got me them, i suppose there are mistakes though, but for the most part, i'm pretty sure they are right...i've never had any symptoms of my pedal going to the floor until now...before i just barely had to push, and they would stop, but they just weren't stopping good, now they stop good, but you just have to push the pedal in alot farther...yes i have drums in the back...

How are you bleeding them? Are you working alone? I bleed with the Mityvac - worth the $30 or so bucks.

One person pumps brakes 4-5 times then holds it, and while holding brake in, other person releases screw to let brake fluid/air out, then once they tighten it back up, release brake and pump it a few times...and repeat that 3-4 times on each tire...what all is involved in the mityvac?

Is the person that is helping you pumping fast or slow that makes a big dif if you can't get a padle open the bleeders and let it run out for about 5mins then shut them. then see what you got make master is full at all time and don't leave cap off master. that sould help .

about that thickness of the rotors bro.. my friend bought some rotso for hi ej1.. and they fit... but werent the right rotors for his car.. its what the computer said and all.. but they werent the right ones.. we had to talke them back and like prove to them that it didnt fit.. and then they finally gave us omnes that were the right ones.. and for bleeding... like everyone else is saying.. bleed it manually.. have one person pump the brake like 4-5 times and hold it... pop open the bleeder making sure the otherend of the hose is submerged into a half of bottle of brake fluid.. then close bleeder.. and keep doin this... another problem is maybe you donth ave all the parts in? clips...
