<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by jdm-fo-life &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">they say that because my accord is a 98 ex that it harded to do it and that the ecu needs some kind of code for the ecu that may or may not work </TD></TR></TABLE>
the 98s have an immobilizer which checks the code for the key against the code programmed in the immobilizer unit.

I've heard varying answers whether or not the immobilizer is actually inside the ECU itself. If it is you will have to have the ECU reprogrammed to match the key (or the key to the ECU). The dealership is the only place I know that can do this.

and the 5 speed ECU.

probably.

but if you run the auto ecu you'll have a CEL and the car may not run right since the transmission controls are built into the ecu.
