I recently had my idle changed on my 96 Accord LX 4-Cyl but found out that the idiot that did it had no idea what he was doing.

I reaserched myself and found out the procedure to adjusting the idle by pulling the plug on the IAC and adjustting the idle screw on the passenger side of the TB.

After finding out what he had done, he had tampered with what I believe is the allen screw with a 7mm nut that acts as a stop for the TB valve. I think I have it set correctly but not sure since I have never messed with this before.

My question is, is there any specifics on how to properly adjust that allen screw? The car feels fine at idle but kind of bothers me cause I'm not sure if I have that set properly.

that is the throttle stop. it is there to keep the throttle plate from closing so much that it sticks. thats about it....

 

What do you mean "Sticks"? Could that mean why my accelerator pedal sticks for a second when I first start up in the morning? Could it be set to low? How do I go about setting it properly?

It does not seem to affect the idle in the morning, but bothers me cause it was tampered with when it wasn't suppossed to. I just want to make sure that it is set where it needs to be.

 

I have always adjusted the throttle stop based on feel. it needs to allow the throttle to be closed enough to idle properly. When I say sticks, well both brass and aluminum are soft metals, and when the throttle snaps shut you want it to seal, but stop before it goes past that point and sticks in the closed position, you can usually tell it is doing that by every time you let off the gas and then step on it again it feels stuck...
