Default rsx sportshift question

Hey guys i have a question about the automatic rsx sportshift is it even possible to cause any damage to your car like mis shifting etc.. even though the automatic car practically doesn't let you mis shift like can you actually cause damage to your engine, transmission, etc... doing something wrong while using the sports shift.. any personal experiences or knowledge about this please share. thanks

if you try hard enough I'm sure you could. But no, there are many failsafes in the sportshifter. It'll warn or just shift if you redline too much, and if you downshift and redline it might shift up again. It's been 3 years since I test drove it, but I know I bounced it accelerating and it shifted. Didn't try a downshift though. I say test drive one with a friend and try it

i doubt you could hurt the car just being in SS just dont redline it all the time. it will not shift for you though in sport shift you have to do it urself. also, it will not downshift if it detects the engine would over rev.

Honda keeps making improvements to idiot proof their SportShift, but we just keep making better idiots.

Actually in the manual it does state that the SS will catch the mistake and not let you downsift/up if it detects that you'll cause damage to the engine. At least I remember something like that while I was looking through my manual a few weeks ago.

I do know that it'll down in my 06 when I'm slowing down to a stop or what not. I have no tried downshifting yet, as I am still in the breakin of my rsx and have not let it rev over 4.5krpm. I want to put flipper to take advantage of the SS but I don't know... I have not seen anyone talk about it or mention it. Maybe I'll be one of the 1st to venture into that.

But if you want, I can post the pic of my manual about the SS failsafe and rules the system does to protect the lazy drivers out there who didn't opt for the type s.

This is from the 06 RSX manual, page 154.

LOL, notice how it says MAY downshift.
