how is the reception on the s2k antenna dozed?

The reception was perfect for the first couple weeks it was on. But it has gradually gotten worse. I can't get any AM channels now and some of my FM stations fade out a lot. Kind of annoying, I am guessing something came loose and just needs to be tightened down again. When I get time I'm gonna pull the back end apart and try to fix it.

how hard was the install?

 

Install is easy. First couple of times I developed the kits mentioned in the link Dozed put up they were a little loose and reception was bad. It is all about the angle of the pvc and adding a home stereo antenne to the threaded post. Adding the antenna makes it pick up like the stock antenna.

 

Will it fit on a 5th gen hatch?

 

Reception is noticably worse. But I live in a rural area. In the urban areas, I get great reception...and to top that off, I lost one of the nuts that connects the antenna wire to the coupling.

 

Does the antenna retract back into the car when the stereo is off?

 

lol, No. Have you ever seen an S2000? Just sits there like a bump on a log.

Just shave it and put a slim Terk SR2 roof mount in place of where your rear window squirter is and listen to XM radio.... perfect reception and no tall awkward antenna. the roof mount xm antenna doesn't really look bad at all on the back right there.

No antenna is better. Just shave that sucker. I don't listen to the Radio at all. Only CD's...

 

that insight antenna looks pretty good. Only thing from keeping me from changing my antenna is fear of having it stolen by no good punks
