CIVIC OR AUDI TT ?Which one should I buy?
Red Audi TT 2003, This thing is going for 18,500 with no reserve, it about a mile from my house and I drove by today and the thing looked great. This seems like a great deal. The owner said they have had zero problems with car.
Instead of paying 19,000 plus on a new civic, and the audi is more rare and would stand out in a crowd. Also I think it would be worth alot more in the future.
Let me know what you all think?

Id take the Civic personally
More proven reliability in the long run, more of a USDM aftermarket, and a proven track record.

Hands down....Civic si. I have wanted/still do want an Audi A4, but when an Audi breaks, they are a bitch to fix and that will cost you dough, especially if it is awd. Get the si. They are still rare for now.
that TT already has 50k on it its only a matter of time before ur going to dump a pile more money in it. Plus is an auto

I was talking about the standard civic coupe.
since the Si is selling for more than 19,000. The Si's are going for 25,000.
I could put a brand new motor in an Audi for that.
I still think this will be a steal of a deal.
Don't get me wrong I love my Civic hatch, and just rebuilt the entire motor in my driveway at 170,000 mile mark.
From what I've seen on the Audi Forums they're just as easy to work, they even have full write ups on the water pump and belt change which is a must at 90,000 miles for all our cars, even though my friend has 130,000 miles on the same belt.

I paid 25,500 canadian for my si.....there is no way you couldn't find an si for msrp if you just take the time to search.
Audi TT's are notorious for electrical problems. Friend just dropped the tranny on his 2000 S4.....wow......$7,000 to fix

Civic, but get an si instead of a coupe. If all these problems are known to the audi's and such, you'll put the diffrence of what the si costs more, back into the audi...
i think that made sense..

I'm a good wrench and I think I'm going to go for the Audi, after visiting there forums, they are easy to work on, and the dealership stands buy there cars.
A guy lost his timing belt and the whole engine needed replacing, the dealership did the whole thing for 5 grand that's including labor.
This car is also adult family owned, which is different than buying from a kid or dealership if you know what I mean.
The guy went over his 90,000 miles on the same timing belt.
Beside I will be driving a very unique car, compared to the civic.
The cool factor and resell ability is also there.
I'm keeping the hatch for my Daily grinder, but i'm going for the Audi.
I hope no one out bids me.

I'm sorry here where I live I might see one or 2 a week and when I do a remember. I see civic's every where I know because I drive and love mine.
about the website
I see one guy creating propaganda, who knows what his initiatives really are.
Or how he drove the car, his web page building skills are good, but that might be a minus for his wrench in hand skills.
His major complaint was a bad coil, i could change that in a hour, especially if they did a recall on it, which means they're paying for the part, and the change.
Also they have a diagnostic tool that is built into the radio AC system, and a couple hand held programers out there.
I think the majority of my bases are covered on this one.

I own a 2006 civic Si, and my dad use to own a 2003 red limited edition 3.5 liter Audi TT. He had thecar for about 3 days. i drove it around alot. The audi TT is really nice, but it is so crammed, only 2 full sized people can fit. There is a back seat, but theres no way any normal human can fit in there. Yeah its twin turbo, but the turbo lag is a little long and until the turbo engages fully, the car is nothing. Teah the TT is luxury hands down, but i told my dad to wait a little whie and find a car that would be better. After driving both cars, i would have to say you will enjoy the Civic Si better.
that is only my opinion though.

Yea, get the Civic.
But I love how people (not just the person on this post) talk about cars being gutless until their turbos kick in...kind of similar to our cars below VTEC no?

owning a honda and a vw. Get the TT. Sure its automatic but the styling and coolness factor is unmatched. Too many hondas around. Love the comfort of a german automobile.
I'd say go for a TT, but aim for a manual instead of an Auto and if you can deal with not having alot of room for passengers/cargo andto deal with any problems that come up, they aren't cheap cars to fix.

Sorry but the TT never came with a 3.5L, only a 3.2 V6 or a 1.8 Turbo. Oh yeah and they don't come twin turbo'd either.

Looks like a fwd TT. I'm pretty sure the 03s only came in fwd with the 180 HP 1.8T. Personally, I'd look for a quattro 1.8T with the 225 HP motor. It's got the K04 instead of the K03s, definitely a little quicker, but it is heavier. Can't beat awd though. Also, there is practically no turbo lag with the VW/Audi 1.8Ts, I have a 03 Jetta 1.8T, same 180 hp motor. Oh and a get a 5 speed...
there's a car and driver review that pit the TT among others against the S2K. the TT is not a sportscar, it just looks like it. if you want a convertible, buy a used S@K. the TT is a volkswagen. i've driven them and i was not especially impressed.
Dude if its right next to your house go and drive the thing and see if you like it. You have to love it when you drive it not what it is or what it will be worth. Hell take both out for a spin on the same day...Dont make a decision on what everyone else says...its your car. I have an Si myself and I could have gotten an Audi but I wanted my Si and I love every moment I am in it.
get the tt. of all of the cars that i have owned (89 cadillac de ville, 96 toyota camry, 97 bmw 328is, 02 audi a4 1.8t, 03 g35 coupe) the audi was my favorite car. drive it, trust me, u won't even second guess buying the car. u cant even put a honda in comparison to a german fine tuned machine. my $0.02
