Towing a sailboat sitting on a trailer?
Hi,
I have a 2004 civic SE and I would like some advice on what size boat I can trailer. The boat+trailer come to about 500 pounds.....but I have my eye on some larger ones too....is there any hope?
Thanks!

1 word, Dont.
The only boat i would pull would be a blow up type.
Youll rip off the back of your car if you do it. Plus, I dont believe theres really anywhere to mount a hitch anyways.
I say that because Ive never seen an em2 tow ANYTHING.

I would get a truck, like a Toyota Pickup with better gearing, suspension, transmission, and overall weight capacity for towing. You're asking for a highly decreased lifespan on your Civic if you try towing boats with it.
500 lbs is not too bad, but I wouldn't go much more than that.
You'll need to see what hitches are available for your car and what the rating is on them.

Have you checked your owner's manual. It will have towing information and specs in there. Mine says it is not designed for towing and will void the warranty.

I wouldn't recommend it. I've seen a EX civic tow a bike rack on the back. And my 01 EX ALMOST pulled my brothers 99 Tacome prerunner treuck, out of some sand. pulled, slinged, and just jerked the hell out of it. the car was fine. the vtec would help for pullin, but you can pull 500 pounds, 2 ppl can equal that, not that much.
