Default HP Gain by removing accesories

I've done my part and searched the forum for answers to no avail, what simply I want to know is this; Will completely removing the power steering pump and ac pump gain a you a decent amount of power compared to the stock engine horsepower. To be specific we are taliing about say a b18b1 rated at 142bhp (or did Honda just measure the hp without the accesories?)

Thanks, Tom

This post doesn't really help..but you don't really gain HP just free up HP that your car already has.

Yeah which is why I'm hoping someone knows if honda engine dynoed most b series motors with or without accesories because though your right it only frees up hp held back by the accesories it DOES gain you something is the way of power. Thanks

The answer to that is simple; No.

As a former Integra owner, one of whom experimented with removing amenities such as the power steering and A/C, I can tell you first hand it's not worth the performance gain.

I shaved weight by going to a single crank pulley that ran only the alternator. Sure, I saved some weight and rotating mass on the engine, but nothing to shake a stick at. Keep in mind my car was NOT for daily driving, so these things weren't necessary on my car anymore.

Driving a car that came w/ powersteering and then removing it, but retaining the P/S rack, is not advised. Cars that do not come with P/S are different and drive different than if you remove yours from a car that it came with. Do yourself a favor and leave the power steering on your car.

A/C, I guess this could be debated. One of the things I learned to love after removing my A/C was the space I gained in the engine bay. 1 less pulley, 1 less belt, no compressor, condensor, aluminum lines...it was alll gone. It gave my Fluidyne rad. more room to breathe, and it gave me more arm room when working in the engine bay.

In conclusion, unless you're not going to drive the car daily, do yourself a favor and leave these items in-tact. You're not going to gain but a mere 3-5whp at most.

its really not worht it... you might gain a little more power but it wont be that noticable.. Just keep everything in your car the way it should be

Thanks thats the kind of answer I was looking for. I should have mentioned that I'm taking the accesories off a motor that is going into a crx so it's no big issue, I can agree though removing the power steering pump off your stock car to gain hp would be pretty lame. The crx I have weighs under 2000lbs so every little bit counts.
