The title says it all. We all know gas is at an all time high so I bought a 1990 CRX HF as my 3rd vehicle to use as a DD to get 40+mpg. What I want is to know your opinions on the most comfortable ride combination of struts and springs. I would like to lower it and I know that takes a little ride comfort away but lets see what we can do about that.

I'd try to get some lowering springs in very close to stock spring rates, unless you're going really low and will bottom out.

I'm running illuminas set on 3/2 with skunk2 coils rated at 400/360 and I find it very comfortable.

Annnnnd I get 51mpg, mixed driving, crx dx with hf tranny.

I'm not going for the raked look I just want to be a little lower because CRX's look better that way. I'll look into the spring rates.

Look into H&R Sport Springs or Sport OE Springs.

Eibach Pro Kit is a VERY mild drop and Sportline will lower your car bigtime but they ride very nicely IMO.

I can tell you I bought my CRX HF for the MPG and it came with coilovers and it's sitting super low and it's BOUNCY as hell! I'd go with a slightly lower stance than stock but not super low unless you want to give your kidneys a nice jarring everytime you're on the road. Oh and if you're not getting 50mpg you're in need of a tune up. I have gotten 47-50 mpg on average in mix driving of city and highway. I still haven't put on my VX wheels but expect that to help out since right now I'm rolling on 15" heavy cast 5 spoke wheels/tires! Yikes! Good luck!

Thanks for the responses fellas. I'm thinking a 1 to 1 1/2 inch drop with some nice light 15's. What strut/spring combo would give me this.

Chances are the guy before you bought springs but not stiffer shocks. The stock ones are either too soft or blown by now.

I've heard good things about Ground Control Coilovers\Koni Yellow struts.

Theirs a few other crxs running around here and I cant stand the way the stock ride

height looks it just looks tacky as hell I cant stand huge wheel gap. Its either go low or

go home when your messing with these cars IMHO, they just look 100 times more

awesome slammed to the ground. As for ride comfort you might as well

leave it stock if your looking for comfort. Id say the factory tried to make it as

comfortable as possible, its when you slam em is when you feel every hole you hit, but

your steering response and handling increase alot. Soooo take your pick.
