Default brakes and pads for a dd/autox/hpde car (i tried searching)

sorry i know there are topics on this i tried searching and got 4 results that didnt have anything to do with this
if theres a good thread and you can post it ill read it

my car is a daily driver an autoxer and a hpde car all in one

when i ran at mid ohio for my first hpde with my 01 integra gsr i noticed some fade at the end of the 20 minute sessions but on one braking spot at the end of the long straight i noticed it was significantly worse and my instructer said it might be a little debris building on the discs (not sure what would help with this)

i havent noticed any problems in autox's or daily driving

im thinking of getting brembo blanks and if i remember correctly from other thread that hawk hp plus in the front and hawk hps in the back

any advice on this would be great
thanks

if you can still find a set, cobalt friction GT Sports would be better than the HP+ in my opinion.

I would suggest the carbotech panther+ as a dual purpose pad, but! they make a lot of noise on the streets, moreso than the milder bobcats, and more noise than the GTSports from cobalt.

so id suggest in this order for noise: gt sports, hp+, bobcats, panther+

for performance dual purpose: panther+, gt sports, hp+, bobcats.

but ideally you should seriously consider getting purpose pads and swapping them out as need be.

I've had a good experience with EBC Yellow Stuff-R pads on generic rotors that I had cryo-treated. Two events and a few thousand miles of daily driving and everything looks like new. They work well too, I was trying to cook them last time I went to VIR, braking harder and later than usual, and had no problems with them. Cold bite is not the best, but it's very manageable and easy to daily drive. I've heard good things about the Cobalt GT Sports too, but never used them.

This would be my recommendation. And I have nothing positive to say about any EBC product....

i have single purpuse wheels and tires
adjustable suspension parts

i guess it makes sense to pick a break pad for each purpose.

ok well i guess ill get a brake pad for daily driving and autocrossing
and than one for track days

any recomendation on each set?

thanks

I've had great results with HP+ front and rear for combination daily/HPDE use. They do make a good bit of dust relative to Autozone lifers, but a good compromise. Biggest factor for me for fade on the track was fresh, high quality racing grade fluid. I used to swap them out for HPS between events, but the car is now primarily for track work, so I don't go through the trouble anymore...

Did this happen during the entire event, or just the first session or two?

Many brake pads exhibit "green pad syndrome", in which they fade (big time) the first time they get up to the really hot temperatures on the track. First session, sometimes second session too. Then they're fine for the remaining life of the pad.

wow nice catch

yes it was during the first session
it seemed pretty bad but it was never that bad again

my instructer recomened cobalts thats what he used on his ITR
so I might use those for HPDE's
and hp+ for street and autox (dont care about brake dust)

thanks for the help
