Wrong it's an abomination. Those cars are the end of an era, and should never ever be refered to as a CRX. Those bastards at Honda knew better, than to call it a CRX here. People would have been suicide bombing factories, if they tried to pass that off as a CRX in this counrty. I hope you got a good deal on it. I personally despise theose cars. To each his own I suppose.

I was for quiet a while of the same view - that the EG CRX should never have been called a CRX. I've changed my mind as I got to know and appreciate those cars more and more - and now I ask why should they not be regarded to as a CRX?
Im refering to this car as a 'crx' as its badged exactly that
Del Sols here in Aus came directly from Japan and all aussie delivered gen3s are CRXs.
Yes - the deal is working out quiet well atm. Its all getting done at mates rates...

all delsols are CRXs. In the US the gen3 Crxs were all badged DEL-SOL. In Australia they are just CRX's unless they are personal jdm imports which are Delsol SiR.

Oh, I dont know......they look nothing like a CRX (1) they lack the best features of a CRX (style and space) (2) they slightly resemble Miata's (3) they suck (4) and, oh, I almost forgot:

Need I remind you this was the end of our friend the CRX? It's not called a CRX here for a reason, Americans wont put up with that **** (as your seeing right now). It has no similar traits to the CRX beside being a light 2 seater. It sucked SO BAD, that it went out of production. And I'm sure b/c it's referred to as a CRX in EDM and JDM land, I bet it's the "3rd Gen CRX"'s failure that has cemented the idea in Honda's mind that a new CRX is a bad idea.
Somewhere in 1991, a Honda NA CEO got a report on his desk that read "1992 Honda CRX"....he was like "**** this ****, it aint goin down, not on my watch" and thus you have the Del Slo.

maybe - but maybe if you were a TRUE CRX enthusiast you'd be open minded and believe that the last generation regardless of shape and performance is still a 'CRX'.

true - the wedge shape is gone but a new feature came in - targa roof.
seeing as the gen1s and gen2s are 2 seaters, 2 doors - how far has the delsol (gen3) veered away? not far - still a 2 seater. still a 2 door.
as for the end on an ERA... i totally agree - but it wasn't because the delsol came out that the CRXs stopped being made. Just like every other manufacturer HONDA continues with a model for so many years and then a new model comes out to take over. Civic/CRX was over taken by the new 'sports car' the Integra which for many years (84-96) was an inbetween a family car and sporty vehicle. Look at the Prelude... GONE. TypeR integra - GONE! you cant Blame the gen3 Delsol for the fact that the CRX is no longer made.

That is funny as expletive. If I was the guy in charge that is what I would have said!
Actually wait I would bring over the 91 Mugen CRX Pro.2, and stuff a b18c5 in it, and use it untill, 2002, then I would put a new k20a type-r in it, keep the chassis the same, except slightly lower stance, and stiffer valving.

The del slow doesn't perform near as well as the CRX and NEVER WILL. It's heavy and very out of balance. A car that small shouldn't way as much as a 4 door EK civic.
Just because it has 2 seats and 2 doors doesn't make it a crx. In that case, the S2000 is a crx, and the miata is a crx. The CRX died in 1991. Don't disgrace them by calling a del sol a CRX. Honda has lost it's heart and sold out.

Wow, so b/c it has a targa top, it's cool?
You know how they quite making Accords in America?
And they quite makin Integras too, right?
What they did was change their name here, b/c their basically completely different cars then their predeccessors.
And, as stated before, American's dont play that kinda ****.
So they got new names.
The Del Sol was the first of this process.
**** man, doesnt the fact it has a different name (Del Sol) just kill your arguement?
We're not arguin if a CRX is a CRX, we're arguin if a Del Sol is a CRX. And seeing hos the letters "d-e-l-s-o-l" dont spell CRX, I'd say a Del Sol is not a CRX.
In this situation I can do nothing but shake my fist at Honda in fury: Why would you contradict yourself on multiple occassions by naming cars after other models in an attempt to instile the predecessor's reputation into the new model, then back out at the last minute?
Thats what it was, Honda called the Del Slo a CRX in hopes of bringing the CR's rep to the new model, cause they knew it sucked and needed all the help it could get. Then the Honda NA got the report, the rest is history
For the OFFICIAL RECORD: A Del Slo is NOT a CRX!!!

how am i contradicting myself?
Just because you're in the US and the 'gen3' has a badge of DELSOL doesnt mean it doesn't have a CRX badge anywhere else... especially in japan. Why did the gen1s came out as Civic CRX in the US and as pure CRX in Japan? same for the gen2s once again badged as CIVIC CRX in US and here a 'CRX'... the gen3s came out as CRXs here, CRX 'del sol' SiR in Japan and as 'del sol' in the US - one thing doesn't make it different from another... especially a stupid 'badge'
if you want to argue the point - look at the difference Civics took in shape and style, the integras where thesame... FFS they called a HONDA the ACURA in the US just as the Australian Built 'MONARO' is a fkn PONTIAC in the US... get over it... a delsol is still a CRX in Japan.
