A20A3 Swap
I bought another 1991 honda civic dx sedan and it needs an engine. I also have a 1989 honda accord se-i that runs, but the body isn't exactly the best. I was thinking about maybe putting the A20 out of the accord into the civic. Would this swap be complicated? What would it take to do such a swap? I can't really afford a B16 and D16s don't seem to exist where i live. What do you guys think?
You can't say d16's don't exist in ohio, d16's are everywhere....And by the way, those motors aren't really worth it... There pretty shitty factory motors, the potential is there, but there is literally no aftermarket support for pistons, rods, or anything....plus they're 12 valve, lol
eh, i guess you're right. i just haven't looked hard enough for a d16. I was looking to do something alittle out of the ordinary for a change. besides, the swap probably isn't worth the time and effort.
Unless you have lots of money or can make custom mounts, I don't think those motors are for you.
There are a couple OH guys that seem to have pretty good luck in the JY's.

Do yourself a favor and let this bad idea fade away...
If you need to get an engine cheap, order a jdm sohc zc or d15b vtec for around $400 from a Cali importer. Or one of the Canadian importers, given your vicinity.
And if you just need to just get the thing on the road with minimal fuss/effort, the sohc zc can reuse all the existing DPFI stuff for a quick and easy swap.

I'm a few weeks I'll have a spare D16Y7 with 400xxx+kms on it, free of charge
. You can use any 88-91 D series and just use you intake system in your car for a replacement engine. You can pick up a running D15B2 for less then 100$ for a block and head.

If the SE-i is a 2 door with tan interior, sell it to me, and by a D16.
BTW There is aftermarket support for internals for A20A3.
B20A3 are very hard to find, and even harder to find manual trans.
D's are every where. Not sure how you can not find one.

OT: The CVCC Accords and Civics were all 12 valves too. Old school technology. Old school for Honda anyway, Ford's new "Triton" V8 now has 3 valves per cylinder in 2006. "Revolutionary" as they say. That would have been true 30+ years ago.
I'd just daily drive the Accord and find a new D series for the Civic.

now that this topic gets brought up....i really wanna build the crap outa one of those motors just to see what they can do, i bet they'd make a sick *** turbo setup, cast iron semi closed block....mmm nothing says boost me more than that haha....sorry just daydreaming didn't mean to thread jack
Somebody around here took that motor into the low 10s maybe even 9s?, with N20 and boost. There was as a fabrication thread about him making an adapter plate so he could run a different tranny. His setup was SICK. If you really want to be different, then find an F22 and get bisi's F-D series tranny adapter and make your own mounts and throw some boost at it. That would be sweet! $$$ lol. Anything can be done with enough $, but in the end you might be asking yourself if it was really worth it. Good luck.
