Dealer says they are making limited production SI's and you have to have it ordered. Meaning: I'll NEVER get a good deal on one. How many are they going to make? Damn, this is like trying to buy a Ferrari Enzo. Do I have to be freakin invited?

I'm sure it is, but I dont have 20 grand. The dealer said, well if you plan to keep it, just lease it and buy it at the end of the lease. I dunno.

 

they arent so rare in memphis. at least now they arent. i ordered my galaxy grey one, a rally red came in and the guy backed out on it. now a black one has come in and the galaxy grey. if u want the nbr pm me.

 

depends where u live. west coast seems to have them all sold upon arrival cuz people cant wait,...where in the midwest there seems to be a few at the dealers. at 15,000 cars that leaves it to each dealer getting about an average of 10 for the year.

its what all the dealerships have been told..

 

i just got my nighthawk black si with navigation about 1123 miles ago. i had to wait 3 months for mine my dealer said they might not be able to make it what i wanted b/c of the limited production **** and they could only order 2 a month.if they only made 15000 si's i would feel so special...but the sticker on mine was 22300 and i paid 24,590 for everything

 

The dealer I went to sold three that day, NBP, Fiji, and Galaxy. They had to pull my NBP from a car show they had it in to advertise thier dealership. Lucky me, I only had to wait over the weekend for them to pull it, clean it, and hand me the key.

15,000 doesnt sound rare, but its almost half of the amount of corvettes that are made each year... and those are supposed to be rare? (Corvettes typically put out around 25k each year model, not including any special editions for that year.)

 

WTF is wrong with Honda? Why only 15k? Maybe they will see the demand and make more next year?

 

i like that they are rare. otherwise theyd be "just another honda".........with my ep3 i have seen only about 5 in my city of 200k people in the 3 years i have lived here. i like that feeling

 

15000 per the 06' model = 300 per state. Which will never happen.. So most states with larger dealer #'s will get more. I can tell you I live outside of Atlanta and I have probably seen 10-15 in 6 months. Its a rare car. Hennessy Honda here in Woodstock is a big dealer in ATL. So they probably get 2-3 Si's a month. With a markup of 3000k . They dont last long on the lots ...

 

um .. sorry to burst your bubbles but the Si will never be RARE. Best case scenario they dont manufacture enough to meet demand ... but that doesnt mean its rare lol.

Hmm...I'll have to see if I can gig up some facts about this. I can understand if they only make 15k this year but I am sure for the 07 lineup, they will pump out double the amount if not more.

I am guessing Honda is just slow at producing the 06 civic line up in general. I don't think they were expecting the current sale numbers.

To those say that the SI will be rare, pfff. It won't be, this is only the first year of production, still have 3, maybe 4 left.

lol you dont see one everyday because ITS JUST BEEN RELEASED! Remember how rare DC5 was? I sure as heck did. My brother got one of the first Dc5 out and it was "rare" back then for a little while. But come on. Its a 1) Honda and 2) Civic .

Oh and I see like 2 everyday no kidding. Here in So cal anyways.

It is what we were told - they divided the allocation up on volume based incentives last year. Some dealerships will get more while some dealerships (i.e. North Dakota -or- Alaska) may not get the first one.

Thanks for bringing up that point. I had forgotten about more years to come of the same model.

My thoughts too. Even here in blue collar domesticsland of Buffalo, NY I'm starting to see the new Si's around.

 

You know.. I've only seen maybe three TOTAL SIs from the last generation. DFW area of texas... I duno, I wouldnt say SIs have the opportunity to be rare, but they are generally uncommon, compared to typical civics.

 

I wonder why Honda is not building as many? If its the "replacement" for the Type-S, then they are f'ing up.

I think it's because they saw the poor sale numbers on the EP3 and decided to start off with a smaller amount.
