motor options OE motor has si 300,000 miles and its slow as !!!!
I have an 89 si.
the OEM motor has 300,000 miles car is very slow. I can't keep up with traffic.
So I am looking into swapping it out for a jdm zc single head or something similar maybe a usdm ex.
which would be the best choice. My si tr-any is mint so I would only need the long block. I am an si so its easy for me to go obd1 or 2 if I have to. I want to keep my ac so I would need a motor that can run it.
but anyways will I still be able to use my current oem mounts from the d series.
I have swapped k,b series motor but never a d series. Since this is my daily driver and I quite frankly don't know much about mini me and **** like that.
please let me know the best options I have.

You should at least be able to "keep up with traffic", I would suggest simply figuring out what is wrong with this motor if you aren't looking for extreme performance.
After 300,000 miles id say its time for a new engine. Good engines of choice are...
d16a6 ( same as stock engine) - 106hp
JDM Sohc ZC - 120hp
D16z6 - 125hp
D16y8 - 127hp
DOHC ZC - 129hp
JDM d15b - 130hp
Im not 100% on my HP #'s but they are close. Each engine has its ups and downs.
If u want an easy swap with a bit more HP, the SOHC ZC is the JDM version of your a6, with a more aggressive cam and a bit more compression, and will drop straight in to my knowledge. ( no wiring changes needed).
All the other engines require slighty changes but nothing significant, wire Vtec, or a few wires for DOHC ZC. all of these engines will be more zippy than your stock engine, and have a wide variety of aftermarket support (less so for d15b/DOHC ZC) though MOST! parts are interchangable.
check out hmotorsonline for DOHC/SOHC ZC's and d15b.
If can always go obd1 if u play to get carried away with the car, but if its just gunna stay near stock, id suggest keeping it obd0.
Then there are always B swaps, they are always something to consider.

you are right. but there is nothing wrong with my motor. it has 300,000 + miles.
tranny doesn't grind its just slow. It doesn't burn a bit of oil. Compression test was 165+ on all 4 cylinders. I was talking to someone he suggested the cat might be clogged!!!
I am going to take it off and see what happens. but I just passed smog in CA so I don't see the cat being the problem.

dont want to spend much on the swap. I had a b series swap before they are fun. I have a k24 integra so I don't want another swap. My daily driver can't afford to get pulled over with that car and get a ref ticket.
Just rebuild the stocker then, will cost you sub $500 and less than a week of downtime
I doubt you have this k24 integra though if you are uneasy about swapping in a d16

rofl. I swapped more motors that you can imagine. I never swapped a d series motor like I said before. I didn't say I was uneasy about swapping a d16 motor I said I don't know whats required say mounts wise.

yea I am going to take off the cat and see if that **** is clogged. I think that might solve my problem.

if ur tranny doesnt grind, and ur engine has 165psi compression, ur problem isnt the engine or tranny. Id start looking elsewhere, as u said, a cat could be holding it back, maybe ur clutch is toast?

haha my clutch is gone!! can that be the reason for the car to be slow??
