I have an '04 Type S (stock) and I've had an issue with my car emitting black/gray smoke from the exhaust during wide open throttle (usually starting around 6k up to redline and disappearing afterwards). I've heard this can be normal since the car is running rich during WOT but I'm wondering if it's burning oil...

...I follow the service manual and change the oil every 10k...the last time I changed the oil I drained 3.5 quarts...this engine takes 4.8 quarts...should the engine be using this much oil after 10k. I use Mobil 1 (10w-30).

don't k-series eng. burn a little oil if you get rev happy ( mine does ).

if your using mobile 1 syn burning oil is normal. Switch to amsoil or royle purple!
