Koyo by surprise
So i ordered what i thought to be a no name aluminum radiator from a honda parts website. I payed 170 for it but it had a 1 year warranty and it was aluminum. I said whatever. 7 days later it arrives i open it up and i see a koyo box. I am like WHAT!?! i take it out check the part number and the specs. Turns out i found a website that sold me a koyo aluminum radiator which they sell for 350. I got it for 170. Havent installed yet due to inclement weather

so i believe it is just the koyo oem replacement radiator because it has honda on the top. BIG PROBLEM. I installed it along with a new thermostat and i am still overheating. I bled the system according to the helms manual. Funny thing is my fans never came on after sittin for 25 minutes. However they do come on when i turn the ac on. Water pump and timing belt were reaplced less than 2k miles ago. Someone please help. Could it be auxillary switch B? Its a jdm h22a in a 92lude 4ws for info. Help?

If your fans aren't turning on, then you should try checking your fan switch. It is located in the water outlet housing in front of the head.
You could also pressure test your coolant system to see if there's a leak somewhere.

OK so today i sat and watched my engine overheat. I just let it sit and it overheated. The fans did not come on until it was already at the 3rd bar. The thermo works both hoses were hot.
My jdm h22a has two switches, one at the thermo housing, yellow plug- blue/red wire with ground, and one on the top radiator hose, black plug, white/yellow wire with ground.
Are all these connectcors right, I might have taken the sensor housing off my h23a and put it on the jdm h22a just because i had an extra plug. Could this be problem?

If you got the performance Koyo be prepared to mod your mounts for it to fit. It's a damn nice radiator but it does not fit where the OEM radiator does.
Take the connector of the sensor on the top of the radiator hose, and jump them (using a paperclip), if you fans turn on, it sounds like it could be a bad fan switch. I had the very same problem as you are expriencing now.
sorry to jack, but i also got a koyo (perf) rad on the way, if anyone has installed one - could they take a pic of how the brackets need to be modified? like buddy above stated? I heard something about if you get the wrong model, you have to mod the way the fans mount.. but never the actual mounting brackets. also - what rad caps work? because once again I "heard" the oem one doesn't work with it.

my prelude did the same thing, overheated after new rad install. the dash temp gauge would show overheat, and there was steam comin off top of rad. i just figured it needed to build up pressure or somethin.
make sure though that you bleed the system after you install, theres a bleed bolt on top of the thermostat housing, should be right next to the coolant temp sensor. loosen it (but dont remove it) and coolant will come out so have a rag or something, let coolant come out till there are no more air bubbles then tighten it back up.
do this with the car and coolant cool or else you'll get a face full of steam
with the car cool turn it on, loosen bolt, and the ooze will come out nice n slow and COOL

Also, try to "massage" the rad hose to displace air pockets that form while you're filling up. You'll hear the coolant gurgle as you massage the hose, keep doing it untill you don't hear it anymore.

yea.. thats what I do... and I use a no-spill funnel..

I had the same problem when i did a radiator and jdm h22 swap. I figured it out, theres a bleed valve by the EGR Valve and thermostat, turn the car on, let it run for 5mins than open the valve untill fluid seeps out of it. tighten it up. let your car idle if that doesnt idk start replacing sensors. check fuses everyone always forgets that!
