As many as you want!!!

But really, it depends, it could get between 20 and 40 depending on how and where you drive. I'd say average driver, average route, 30mpg.

This is all assuming everything is in good/reasonable condition.

I just so happen to have an 5sp '87 Civic wagon.
Mine is 4wd though. And all the 84-87 wagons were 1.5 liter.

When it was stock, I would flail the living tar out of it around town and cruise around 75 on the freeway. I would consistently get 30-35mpg.
