I got a 98 DC w/ a C/F hood how do I jack the hood up at the windsheild to let more heat escape for the engine bay?

use the bolts close to the wind shield.

and all you need are bolts and washers.

you don't bend anything.

I used both bolt holes. Just get longer bolts and washers.

Why do you need to let air escape for better cooling? Whats wrong with your radiator?

It does look "cooler" but I think it helps with underhood temps!!!!

i used these plastic washer pieces from a hardware store and got some extended bolts.

supposably since it's popped up like it is, it'll push the air in the engine bay to go under the car.

I used skateboard "donuts" or truck bushings. Forgive my terminology, but I ride bmx, not **** around on a board

I'm sorry, but ew.

Don't do that to your hood unless you have a reason to do it.

Now honestly.. Is it really for the heat to escape or just because you want a hood prop? I'll admit that I wanted to do the same thing but it definitely wasn't because I was worried about my heat escaping hah. Try using heatwrap and grab a cooling plate

I would like to see some kind of evidence that this mod can lower underhood temps. It doesn't seem like as much air would escape as a vented ( EVO) hood. If you want your engine to run cooler, get a header, or better yet, upgrade your cooling system.

I really don't think it does lower them all that much. And if it does, 90% of people that do this mod don't do it for the lower underhood temperatures.

it does lower underhood temps, the underhood air can escape much easier with the top of the hood open

but

whats the point

its not like honda's have cooling problems

I wonder if you can do this mod with other cars as well? My friend's turbo Talon runs so hot he has to crank the heater when it's hot out. I'll have to take a look @ how the hood is held on.

Tell him to sell the car. Just playing, Tell him to check the thermostat, Drain the coolant, Check the temp switch, and other random DSM problems.

The engine has like 1k miles on it. My guess is that the manifold and sidemount "interheater" make it run hot as hell. We've popped the hood after a run up a mountain road and the manifold was glowing cherry-red. I'll tell him to take a look at that stuff though and I'll take a look at the wack-*** lumpy DSM hood to see if it can be ghetto-propped.

this is just my opinion (all motor people dont flame on me )

the reason why idid mine on my eg with cf hood is because im BO0sted everytime i stop(of course u got to let it running for a minute or two b4 turning off the engine) and my cf hood just get so hotand i got scared it might get expletive up. i pop my hood and all the things under the hood are soooo00 hot (duh) so i did this thing and voila it really made a differncecold air is flowing to the intercooler to the manifold then out of the hood

boosted car should do this

NA car should not do this
