Automatic Transmission Clanking???
I just got a 1991 Integra RS with auto transmission and I noticed that on average when the car shift down from 4th to 3rd-2nd-1st , I heard a clanking sound. Do you think changing ATF will help the clanking sound? Oh, is it true that if you haven't change the ATF for a long time, its not recommnended to flush it? I'm not sure if the previous owner of the car ever change the ATF. What do you guys recommnend? Is clanking sound not good sign for auto transmission?
Check the easiest things first...start with the mounts..you may have a bad one(or two) that is allowing the drivetrain assembly to move back and forth making the "clanking" sound you are refering to....give it a shot!
