Default d16y7 in a 91 EF?

a friend of mines bought a minty 91 hatch. and like a idiot, drove the car HARD with no oil. so the motor went kaboom. my friend has a d16y7 layin around in his garage and now my questions, wats need to be done to put a y7 in a 91 hatch? my biggest concern is how to "intall" the tranny, since the y7 is a hydro but its going in a cable car. any help would be greatly appreciated

Just use the tranny from the 91 hatch on the D16Y7.

If you want to just drop it in and do zero work, simply use the block and head for the Y7, and use EVERYTHING ELSE from the B2 or A6 (you didn't specify which original engine). Use the mounts and everything. Original tranny, intake manifold, exhaust manifold, dizzy. It will run like it was the original engine.

The d16a6 and d16y7 are pretty much the same, though it is said the a6 has a better cam profile... Ive always wantd to throw one in for the hell of it. Let us know the results.
