Default Is this a good price for paint?

Want the CRX painted again. Talked to my friends dad who has a garage...he said if i sand it (no prob) he will do 3 coats base, 3 clear for $650. And if I want it wet sanded and buffed, another $100. I thought it sounded good, he has done many show quality cars. Also, rio red looks kinda dull i think even when new. If wet sanded and buffed will it brighten up a bit? I am only having outside done, no engine bay or inside doors, so would milano red be way off looking? like open the doors and have a drastic ugly difference? (inside the doors the paint is spotless) thanks!!!

Most the work is in the prep, its a lot more than just sanding it. Have you had any experience doing bodywork? What kind of paint is he using?

And you definately want it wet sanded and buffed.

I assumed from your post that you were doing the primer and bodywork also. If this isn't the case I would jump on that deal.

yup, he does the primer. one quarter sized rust spot is all that needs fixed. Rust free until this past winter!!! so 750 is good for all paint and rust repair?

I would just give him 800$ and do the whole works, you be glad in the end that you din't miss something that you would have needed.

If your going to have it sprayed then don't skimp on the quality , your going to kick your self down the road for not coughing up a few more bucks for the jambs and such to be sprayed. A lot of true "show car" paint guys wont even do the work if you don't do it up right , remember his name follows the paint job and those guys rely on a clean reputation. As for the wet sand and buff work , Leave That To The Pro !
