Default torn axle hub

both my gsr axle's boot are torn, all the grease gone, i was thinking about getting new oem ones but how much whp will stock gsr axles support? is there a cheaper way to get them repaired? plus how the hell do you get the passenger side axle out? in there good.

you have to take the whole goddamn hub assembly off i think. its not that difficult unless the ball joints are stuck in there good.

everything is out except the axle is still stuck in the tranny on the passenger side, is there a lock or just comes out? this is the second gsr tranny i worked on that won't come out, i avoid it last time doing my clutch but now replacing it so i need it out.

Should just pop out. You may have to use a large screwdriver or prybar to get it out. The tool I usually use is a tie-rod separator which looks like a fork with the tips in a wedge shape, but it doesn't really matter.

Probably yes, and yes. The intercooler was a generic one with bolts on the top and bottom so it can be used either way. I'm dumping it anyways and getting one that actually fits and doesn't make the car look worse than without it. At the time, ( a couple years ago), I just thought, the bigger the better. Yeah right. And yes, I have the Campbell's bov flange. I have a pipe I can drill out and weld a flange onto, but at the time I just wanted to get the car up and running and work out the details later. Last time around I had a Greddy RS bov and the flange welded correctly. However, the can has worked great so I haven't messed with it and the bov was free so I decided not to spend too much money on welding stuff. As long as no one looks under the hood they don't know the difference. Half the people who look under the hood and say they're in the import scene don't know what they're looking at anyways, so when I tell them it's a new custom HKS SEMA HID XP Racing Type RXSII performance flange with ribbed metal to increase surface area and promote cooler charge pipes, they don't really question it. Ok, so I haven't really told anyone that, but I have had a number of people who think they are "car guys" look at the engine and they don't notice anything odd. Probably because everything they know is from a magazine. Right now I'm in this really tight money crunch where I can't spend much at all on the car. It's running super rich so any spare money that comes in is gonna be used for a chip and tune. Probably the thing to do would have been to buy a complete brand name kit, but since I got a number of the parts for either free or next to nothing, I just completed my run of doing it as cheap as possible.

i like it, as long you know what you're doing and it works, that's the idea. had a guy install a turbo in a d16 with oil lines, no charge pipes or down pipe ask me why his car isn't boosting, boy was i about to slap him.

Yeah I had a civic with a blown hg and had to replace it. That was before I had air tools too. Mine basically runs like crap right now. It makes this weird sound when I'm boosting, like instead of mostly an exhaust sound, it's like it's got a breathing problem. I don't know how to explain it, it's almost a sputtering sound. I try not to hit it too hard until it's tuned. I still think after it's tuned that it's gonna have constant reliability issues. I was thinking the other day about selling it off and just going all-motor. I'm kinda ready for a new challenge. The turbo is just getting old and I'm not learning anything new with it.
