Whats the Best Ignition?
My car is a 1994 Integra GSR, getting built with poormans ITR setup w all ITR internals, 12:1 CR. Looking around 180-200whp when im done.
Im considering buying the Crane Hi6 Ignition Amplifier and PS92 Coil.
What about MSD setups? Any thoughts?

msd digi 6 ignition is great -- but i have the impression you dont really need one (they dont do much) unless youre running alot of power or nitrous
This is something I've researched a little and found guys that are full race (NA) and using the stock ignition. I figure if its good enough for them...
Save your money for something else for your car.

upgrading the coil is good. getting an external coil will provide a stronger spark. stock ignition is good. get some good wires. i recommend a MSD coil and some ngk, magnecore, msd, or vitek spark plug wires.

I recommend going with a ignition solutions unit, it will boost the spark so you get ten different sparks in one fire giving you better gas mileage, increased torque, increased horsepower, lower emissions, it will start alot faster you will reach max torque faster and your car will feel like it isnt even running do to the much better idle

I agree with ARTurbo. Its common for 11 sec turbo cars running with stock plug wires and stock ignition. and also 11 sec all motor street cars with stock ignition.
Ignition is good but it shouldnt be on the top of the list of modifications until your getting way up there in the HP or your running a DFI.

Stock is fine for NA.
Here's a question.....
Is it true that the factory computer is only good til about 9k? Anything after that and the ECU freaks out?

From what I read MSD6 is a good idea for N2O setups, because you can set a rev limit before the fuel cutoff, so that you won't lean out and damage your engine

I am not sure if it increases mpg or not, they do advertise that but it may be a specific situation thing
Another advantage, is you can set a rev point where it will maintain a specified RPM
. IE: Set it at 3500 rpm for a launch

I am pretty sure you can do it with just the MSD6
Here is what the instruction manual says
Maybe I am misreading it?
Here is what the instruction manual says
REV LIMITER
You can select two rev limits; one for a low limit that can be used when staging the car, and another limit for top end overrev protection.

I had an MSD blaster coil and SCi ign amp. I only got it because I ran Nitrous at one point. Even with the ign, I still got misfire unless my gap was pretty tight.
For N/A I would say it is not worth it...

actually its a big long story about nology, but if you check out the website you will see how many people actually like the booster and what it has all done for them the booster works better than nology products, i used to have nology and now i switched and this works alot better (bonus: no radio noise)
Like what the latter says, you'll be fine with the stock ignition. Alot of people tend to overkill in this area not knowing how well the OEM ignition is.
I've found that MSD won't stand behind their product if for any reason you mount it in the engine compartment and it get swet and fries. My friend washed his MSD (dumbassssss) and zap... called MSD and lied about how it got wet. It was installed at the proper angle allowing for any water to draina nd everything... sent in pictures and they said "sorry, not out fault." Another friend of mine had his car detailed and they sprayed his Crane Cams Fireball ignition and it got fried. Took pictures, sent them to Crane, Crane sent him a new ignition in 3 days. I've also heard Crane's spark is stronger than the MSD, not sure if that's true though. I've got a Crane Cams ignition (forget model) with the LX93 coil. Installing it in a week or so but I really don't expect any very noticeable power gains, just better throttle response and the rev limit settings for @ the drag strip.
