yo, i have a eg 4 door with a d15b VTEC swap. i have yet to get a po8 ECU to get my VTEC working, but anyways right now its dam slow. i'm hoping that it makes a noticable difference when i get 30 more horse from my VTEC, but i want to know from you that have had a boosted D series, is it worth it? how much power did you get from just a normal bolt on kit, and aprox. cost estimate.

 

greddy kit is about 2 grand and 40 hp, and lots of torque. the thing that makes hondas feel slow is the lack of torque. boost is a great way of kicking up your torque numbers A LOT.

yes, let me rephrase...sorry. i am NOT recommending any particular kit. I am suggesting that turbo is an option and a good one if built and tuned properly. homemadeturbo.com has many options and ideas. there are also plenty of other kits out there. the key is the tune.

Sedans are for middle aged people with kids. If you'd got a fam and kids, right on. If not, get a coupe or hatch. The only sedans I've seen end up looking ricetastic.

You do have no note there's a big differece between a WRX wagon, a 4-door dragster (i assume it is a dragster with the oversized wheels), and a D15 4-door...

 

You are aware that having 14" slotted rotors does nothing for you right?

 

They came with my Sol when I bought it. And they do plenty for me. I don't like the large rims. It's not about size.

hahah i know what your thinking, and hey i could be wrong but the deal right now is, in my car before i had the non-VTEC engine. i swapped in the D15 motor with VTEC but my ECU is still stock, so its running it like the old engine. the old engine was 110 hp, the new one is rated 130 hp. So i was wrong, 20 hp, but i figuired once i get the new p08 ecu, and wired up the VTEC and got it running, i would get that 20 extra horse. i could be wrong though.....(means fill me in if i am)

yeah i noticed that, and i know that hondas are high end horse power cars and not torquey ones but that doesn't take away the feeling of slow but anyways, the kit from greddy is for the D16 i'm pretty sure, i know that my engine and a D16zc are basically the same crap (along with most D series) i asked the guys at greddy if the kit would fit and they basically said know although i'm still skeptic about that one.....personally i think it will. Do you know for a fact?

you wont see 20hp from vtec either. the HP comes from the compression, the cam, head flow, and a few other things vs. the non vtec. point is, dont expect to get vtec working and feel much if any differance. get vtec working for sure and run the correct ecu or equivelant, and you might notice a little more power above 5700rpm, but honestly how often do you take it that high???

on another note, what tranny are you running, if still the dx or whatever was stock???

 

hahaha, honestly dude i take it that high like every time i drive it, i haven't driven it in like 2 months cause of some damage that needed fixing PLUS i just got a new exhaust goody so now its a joy to drive and listen to when it hammers it.

the transmission was replaced from my old one, the one i have now is the stock one that came with the D15b. (its auto)

please, save me your 'automatic' bull *****, i couldn't care less, i already know 5 speeds are faster. automatics dont loose boost if they are boosted, between shifts not to mention this is my first car and i'm making the best of it.

 

then swap out to a 5 speed first and have fun driving

 

im just saying, its not gonna be fast even boosted. you might see 15 sec 1/4 miles.

 

personaly, i have herd and now seen for my self the b's arent all that. i have a coupe w/ d16y8 with headers and cai, raced a coupe w/ b16, cat back and sri, kept w/ in a car from 0-60. after i get my suspention done, im going with the greddy kit, only cus im in smogrific californsuck . if your out where you can get away with a home made turbo, go that way.
