Default my friends vtec kicks harder?

im wondering why my friends vtec kicks in harder than mine. he has a 95 gsr and is running stock now with an itr manifold. he got pulled over a week ago and the cop made him take off all his aftermarket parts. he had an aem sri, test pipe, headers, spark plugs and some other stuff that he wont tell me about.
im running a stock 96 gsr with a v2 intake.
i have another friend with a si that i always lose to at take off but beat him at high end.
well these 2 raced each other and the guy with the gsr took the si at low end when vtec kicks in.. so my question is that how is his vtec kicking harder than mine?
oh and when his vtec kicks in, you can really hear it.
mine is more quieter..
could his ecu be tuned or something?
hes running stock now with just an itr manifold.
any input would be appreciated

hes probably a better driver. try having him race the si in your car. and vtec doesnt kick in at low end.

maybe you have more miles on your car, maybe he has a chipped ecu, maybe your low on vtec fluid.

why wouldn't your friend tell you what mods he has? sounds strange to me.

wtf!? how the hell did the cop have the authority to make him take off the parts? i can understand the test pipe... since it wouldnt meet regulations, but f'ing spark plugs? and an intake? but wait... his generation with their overly obnoxious harley's (don't get me wrong i have respect) can ride around with straight pipes coming out the back! emissions? nahhhh! man, sorry to steal your thread but does anyone else see the problem in this?

not fair? thats true, but seeing a harley do a burnout in front of a traffic cop, simply because he knows they will never do jack ****, and seeing people with world sport exhausts that are barely louder than stock getting pulled over because their exhaust is shiny and they drive a honda is double standards. and ******* bullshit. harleys can get away with anything they want. a guy i work with was telling me how his harley gets 30 mpg now that he put on his highly annoying exhaust, and im sure hell never get looked at by a cop.

im guessing maybe because of the single stage manifold your friend has.. those are design to pull real hard in top end.. put on some aftermarket cams and race him again

Most people driving annoying hondas are kids who's parents don't even like thier cars. Most people riding annoying Harleys are rich dudes with lawyers. If you are a cop. Who are you going to pick on? It's survival of the fittest. Most honda kids will just pay the ticket and complain about the police. The Harley guys will actually do something about it. And do you think a cop wants to go to a big *** case over some stupid exhaust? Hell no, but if he can generate some revenue for his city/county/state and **** off a few kids doing it without having to show up for court or do alot of paperwork. Then he did his job perfectly.

top-- I don't have a clue what you mean by vtec kicking . If you are talking about the "totally wicked cool vtec sound" his car makes over yours then get an exhaust.

Of course this was a 550whp mustang not 150whp integra. You probably won't see much of a gain over the stock spark plugs in an otherwise stock application as you guys have.

first of all, check ur vtec fluid, its prolly low. the vtec fluid reservoir is beneath ur gas tank. you'll prolly need a jack and jack stands. then go to o'reilly's or any local parts store and buy some apc spark plugs. i pt some on my b20vtec DA and im pullin on 400+ hp civics. its crazy. i never knew spark plugs did so much. u learn something new everyday. if u take my advice ur vtec should make ur front tires almost come of the ground.
