if u were to replace the stock gsr cat for the itr cat exhaust, would there be a slight performance upgrade?

No theres not a differnce. I own a gsr. If u want big sound just get a full custom made cat-back. Itr is not differnt when it comes to exhaust. Well the header is, but not the exhaust part.

OEM ITR

Big difference in look compared to the stock gs-r. Piping is also 2.5" instead of 2.25"

ic. so if i have cam gears and itr cam shafts and am planning to get dc or itr 4-1 headers, the itr exhaust would be a better fit since it is 2.5", correct?

unless you want to spend the money for a more performance based exhaust, such as an rs*r or something, I'd say get the oem itr. I have one on my car and i love it.

Correct me if im wrong but the itr is 2.25 mandrel bent stainless steel whereas the gsr, is 1.9-2.0 crush bent mild steel.

If im correct, then you can do the calculations.

The whole ITR exhaust system is different, it will make improvements over the stock GSR, not enought to blow your tires off and send you into VTAKK warp speed or anything, but its an improvement over stock.

you are correct.....there's been quite a few threads exactly like this...I cant seem to find them right now though. Anyways, one thread showed internally how the itr muffler system flows smoother than the gsr. Also, there was another thread that showed a pic of a gsr and itr cat back system laying next to eachother. The itr catback system has smoother bends (mandrel bends), piping was slightly bigger in diameter, and on the 98+ systems, the tip is welded and slightly bigger compared to the gsr. If I find those threads, I'll link them...

performance wise, you'll probably get the same exact gains if you were to go with a rsr, apexi ws2, or greddy sp cat back system...which is maybe 2whp if that! Like some one had mentioned earlier, you probably wouldnt feel anything on the butt dyno.

I know that the JDM header collector is 2.5", but if I remember correctly, the exhaust is 2.36".

ITR Cat back is also shorter then the GSR and if youre just using the ITR catback with the GSR cat/header then you need to make an extension. My car feels a lot smoother with the ITR catback as compared to the stock GSR

I believe you are correct with your dimensions. When I installed my ITR exhaust it looked way better than the crappy rusty GSR.

Damn thats cheap, I just paid almost $700 for 4" 304 SS piping and all the associated bends and a muffler from burns stainless, un-welded.

catback? no, i have had a usdm cat back and usdm catback, the jdm one is longer i believe cause of the header, but the piping is the same, the muffler is a tad different, the tipe sticks out 1" more,
