Default Is my engine Vtec?

I have an EJ8 and an EJ1. On the 95 engine the word "vtec" is machined onto it. On my 00 it only says "Honda". Has someone messed with my engine ( I bought second hand) or is this just the way honda made the 2000s??

Melissa

look for a vtec solenoid. if it has vtec then there should be a solenoid on the back of the head just around the corner from the distributor

lol I don't know how you screw up "vtec" if you're literally looking right at it

96-00 Valve covers only say "Honda", not like the 92-95 Z6 motors that had the "Honda VTEC" and the Honda emblem on them...if its an EX, which im guessing it is cause you called it an EJ8, then it DOES have VTEC

only 92 z6 covers had "VTEC" on them. 93-95 had honda and honda emblem on them. thats why those vtec valve covers are hard to find and usually go for more $.

I'm pretty sure its been untampered but I could be wrong.

I'll check my other friends 95 Ex. He's had his for like 7 years and bought it from some lady so I know that is stock. But I'm pretty sure that one says VTEC too.

But I did just go to a honda parts site and it had a picture of the one without it...weird.
