Wanting to get an s2000... fill me in here
as of now i have a 98 gsx... im keeping it till this upcoming winter passes and im getting rid of it. it only has 29xxx on it. but im 100% positive i want an s2000. can anyone tell me pros and cons. i know a lot about cars just not tooo familiar with the s2k. for example what are some big differences between the 2000-2003 and the 2004+? thanks for your help
2000-2003 models = 16 inch rims, 9000 rpm redline, round exhaust tips,
2004 + models = 17 inch rims, around 8400 redline, more torque, oval exhaust, a lil more power added to lower rpms, suspension is a lil less stiff (so ive heard)
thatz pretty much all i can think of.

well the 04 s2k has lower HP but higher torque numbers. I also think that anything above 03' the redline is 8 or 8.2. But overall the s2k is very worth it. If you are getting one you should get the 00-03 models.

What is your goal? There are many cosmetic mods and non-performance mods that enhance driving experience for the S2k. As for performance mods...there are very few that have any real impact.
For suspension...the car responds well to improved shocks...many prefer coilovers (be prepared to play with corner balancing and jounce/rebound settings...KW Variant3 seem to be the hot selection right now). The car really responds well to an agressive alignment (many like the UK spec).
For drivetrain...only 2 mods provide real bang for the buck (and modding an S2k is expen$ive): 1) FI (couple SC options and several turbo options available); 2) gears (many like to switch from the oem 4.10 to 4.56 or even 4.77). Other drivetrain mods create very modest gains for lots of money.

I know this has most likely been asked before but what's the highest HP S200 ever? What type of tuning options are out there?
I have a 240SX with a SR20DET and it's very easy to massive amounts of HP with very little money.. How is the F20 in that respect?

Its nice to see a mature, well constructed response once in awhile

The S2000 is only a 2.0 or 2.2L engine, so massive hp is not going to happen. 300 to the wheels is good for SC and just a bit more for a good turbo (more is possible with $$ and knowledge). This will not hold a candle to the hp that can be extracted from higher displacement engines. An LT1 Vette or 5.0 Mustang will own an S with the same amount put into mods and it will have a lower buy in as well.
But that is for a straight line. Add a corner or two and the story changes.

Well he is not considering the the 5.0 or 'Vettes.
Also, higher HP numbers are easily available. It all depends on the funds. Check this forum, there is an NA build hoping to achieve around 270hp at the RWHP.

also, ive heard from various people on here that the stock internals can hold 500hp. this would only seem possible with a forced induction setup. you would need to get a 3mm headgasket. but you can worry bout that later. id be happy enough just owning the s!!!!! and the highest hp ive heard of are 311 whp n/a ( just covered the other day in this section.) and 609 whp turbo( dont remember where)
