i thought this was interesting. torque was gained on low end just by advancing the ignition timing without additional tuning.
im about to buy a timing gun just for this and refund it. how high can i go with a jdm itr 98spec, jdm 4-1, 3" short ram with velocity stack?
ive been reading 18 is a good number but can i go higher with shell 93?

check the archives, there is a lot of info on timing. IIRC 21 degrees would be max "safe". but get a bad batch of gas...who knows what could happen. Id say the slight power increase isnt worth the risk. Not only that but all motors are different so there is no telling how your motor will react unless you test it on the dyno.
I played about with the timing and found that +18 degrees was the best setting for my car, i tried +20 and it felt dead as did any lower than +16degrees (this is on a 96spec B18C)
