I like nissans to. Ive had a 91 se-r..rip old girl since 91 and it was totaled in april by a careless woman on a cell. Maximas are very nice imho so is the tl. Whats up with the tranny? Is this something i should look for? im looking at relatively low mileage ones under 40k

00-03 TL trannys tend to take a **** often. its not uncommon to hear of owners having their transmission replaced 2 or 3 times. all 00-03 TLs have an extended 100K mile warranty from acura, because of this. I LOVED my 00 TL, but it the tranny took a **** on the way to vegas, so that was the end of that. it was under warranty, and got it replaced for free, but my wife didnt trust the car at all anymore, so we traded it in for a g35. i still want an 02-03 TL-S though.

This man speaks the truth. We get like 2-3 trannys daily for TL/CL/MDX's. New TL's (04+) seem to be all straightened out though, as we see zero problems with them

what is the deal with it anyway? i didnt read the whole TSB, but i know the 2nd gear gets discolored, is that due to heat? they installed the jet valve 2 weeks before the tranny took a dump, and even after that, i was still feeling the hesitation in the shifting up until it died.

Exactly how it is at our dealership. Older TL's have glass transmissions
My dad bought an '06 TL from us..no problems so far

I believe their problem lies in the fact that they added more power to the motor, and only added the 5th gear to the tranny. No strengthening at all. They overheat and lock up. Those jet kits do nothing for us
